I've got a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee & the Heater seems to blow warm air on the driver side vents. But blows nothing but cold air on the passenger side vents. It 's even like this when its on defrost. It has auto temputure contols. Is it possible that there is 2 seperate thermostats?
Try heatertreater.net. It's easy and worked. $130 well worth it.
THis is a know problem with Jeep GC. If only one side is cold and the other is hot and there are no controls error codes. It is likely a broken temperature blend door on the faulty side (w/ dual controls). Dealer charges a lot to fix ~$800. There is a kit and instructions sold on EBAY to replace the part for $100. Seller claims that a relative novice can fix w/o removing the entire dash board as the dealer does. Has sold hundreds of kits....people seem satisfied....you may check it out. Search Heater Blend Door Jeep on ebay. Replacement parts are aluminum instead of OEM plastic.
Self Diagnostics on HVAC system. Jeep GC has built in diagnostics and will return error codes on the temp display if it is otherwise. Simple to display.
1) Press A/C and Recir button simutaneously
2) Rotate driver temp control knob clockwise then release buttons
3) If no controls error a code of "0" or "00" will be returned.
4) Error codes listings can be found on-line if anything but zero
Dealers charge $45 to run the same check
There are 2 seperate zones for the drivers and pass. side, but they use the same thermostat.
There is a blend air door motor that controls this.
The one on the pass. side is probably bad.
These are kind of hard to replace.
There are on the bottom of the heater box and you need a philips screwdriver about an inch in total length.
There is not that much room between the bottom of the heater housing and the floor.

If this is continual problem with jeep, shouldn't they pay to replace what is obviously a faulty part of thiers?
I have basically the same problem with my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver's side stopped blowing warm air and now neither side blows warm air. I've been told that it's the heater core but we've never smelled antifreeze through the vents or had a fog or a haze in the windshield.
exact same problem. Anyone in southern Ca please reach out and let's organize so the dealers will fix our issue at their cost. this obviously seems like a manufacturing defect.

I just experienced the same problem last week on my 2000 jeep grand cherokee. I took it to a mechanic and he told me that it would be $500 to $1000 to fix the problem.
