2000 mercurt grand marquis

.Fuel pump fuse good. Fuel pressure good 35psi Tested Fuel pump relay according to the "Chilton Manual 26180" According to the fuel system test... installed a jumper wire into the fuel pump relay terminals that power the fuel pump (per foto). Listed for fuel pump to turn on (it did) ..book says "if you now hear the whirring sound, the fuel pump relay or its control circuit is faulty." Switched PCM power relay, fuel pump relay and air conditioning relay . Drove car and started and stopped engine in driveway dozens of time to get it to fail. No failure. #2 Drove car. Started engine and stopped engine dozens of times in driveway and after some time starting engine and stopping engine got car to not start. Fuel pump not on....no sound. Fuel pressure gauge ...no pressure. Car wont start. Pulled fuel pump relay and installed a jumper wire into the fuel pump relay terminals that power the fuel pump according to book. This time fuel pump did not turn on. According to the book "If there is no whirring sound ,there is a problem in the fuel pump circuit from the relay panel to the fuel pump, defective power relay or a defective fuel pump". Replaced pulled fuel pump replay...turned key... fuel pump did not turn on. Turned key to try and start dozens of times and after lots of tries fuel pump now on ...pressure in fuel line ...car starts. Got any ideas?

Not guessing as to what the problem is , testing for voltage drop problems with a volt meter . posted a video on youtube yesterday . If your still looking for guesses forget it , no one on here could say for sure without testing the circuit an hooking up a scan tool to see if PCM is energizing the relay . Do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop . Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation If you can't learn how to test from this guy , better take to a repair shop .

SOURCE: 1996 mazda mx6 ls cranks but won't start

you may need to run a wire from a keyed ignition source that has power while cranking and running to the fuel pump relay and bypass the pcm to test wether it will run, if it runs put a more permanent wire in place. Not too sure what tests youve done but it seems that fuel is what your focusing on so a quick test is too spray engine start up the intake tube to see if the engine trys to run if it does it eliminates a lot of other potential reasons for a no start condition. Also try squeezing the fuel return line to see if the added pressure will try to make engine run.Could be time to replace fuel pump etc anyway let me know how it goes good luck with it

You have a problem in the fuel pump relay circuit for sure then. I'm betting the relay, but it could be that dropping resistor.

Where is the fuse for the fuel pump on a 94 grand marquis

There appear to be 2 fuses that can affect the fuel pump. #8 which provides power for the fuel pump, and #4 which provides power for the fuel pump relay. Both of these fuses are in the High Current fuse panel, which is located in the engine compartment near the battery.

The warning in the owners manual states: Always disconnect the battery before servicing high current fuses.Ford recommends that high current fuses be replaced by a qualified technician.

2000 mercury grand marquis 4.6 Intermittent problem. 35,000. miles. Problem engine died several times wile driving. Also after car is parked from a drive will not start. Found that the fuel pump is not...

I'd have to test when problem is ongoing. When you first turn on key, no crank, you should hear the pump run for a few seconds then stop. For initial prime, the computer doesn't need rpm signal. Engine cranking, the computer needs to see rpm signal or it won't ground the fuel pump relay. W/o rpm signal, no spark at the plugs and no fuel injector pulse. I know your talking about fuel, but, when problem is ongoing, check spark and fuel injector pulse, engine cranking.
Intermittent problems are a pain, have to test when problem is ongoing.

Is there a fuse for the fuel pump 92 grand marquis

Hello fellow Grand Marquis owner...

Yes, there is a fuse, relay and an inertia shut-off that all affect power to the fuel pump.

The fuse for the fuel pump is in the power distribution box, under the hood. Fuse #8, a 20 amp fuse that also protects the electronic engine control relay. This fuse box is immediately behind the battery.

The fuel pump relay is immediately behind the power steering resevoir on the left side of the engine compartment. It's under a cover that houses three relays. Look for the words, 'FUEL PUMP RELAY'
on the plastic cover and carefully lift to check the relay, if necessary.

Check that the inertia switch didn't go off from a pothole or other jolt to the car. It's in the trunk, on the left side, above a yellow warning label with instructions. The reset button is pointing upward through a hole in the fuzzy gray trunk carpet material.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

1999 Honda Accord won't start. No fuel pressure, so replaced the fuel pump. Still no fuel pressure, tested old fuel pump it seemed to work fine. Can not locate the main relay?

The relay may be located in the under hood fuse/relay box.
Check your manual for the location of the relay, if listed.
Check for a sticker on the inside of the under hood fuse/relay box for a possible guide.
