Porshe is competely dead no lights inside ,i would like to recharge the battery but i can't open the bonnet/hood as there is no power, any suggestions? thanks
Reach over the drivers side front tire in wheel well. Reach around trim in upper wheel well to find a cable, running front to back, pull toward you and it should release the front hood. Previous owner showed me this emergency release in case battery goes dead and I have recently had to use it myself on my 1998 Boxster.
Inside the top of the driver's front wheel well, just aft of the spring
coil mount, is a
little rectangular corner in the black plastic shroud that lines
the inside of the wheel
well. Reach under this, and you will feel a "wire" about 1/8" in
diameter.
Too thick for an electrical wire (and not in a harness anyway).Now
tug this cable
gently out from behind the shroud and get a good grip on a loop of
it. Now pull hard away
from the headlight once, and prepare to hear the music of the
alarm as the front hood pops
open. Grab a 10mm wrench and take off one of the battery cables to
silence this thing
until you can get your key in the ignition and disarm the thing.
Disconnect the alarm horn, re-connect something with power to
the battery leads, and
unlock your car.
Toninlee is quite right but for the less technically minded. I could find the terminal to start with. On my 2007 boxster its red to the top RHS of all the fuses with a helpful sign showing an opening bonnett.
I just had the same issue on my 2001 Boxster. There is a simple solution. The ciggarette lighter won't accept any power so you can't use this. You need to buy a Sealey 12v Memory Saver Diagnostic Socket EOBD VS2072, around £30 on ebay. This fits into the EOBD port which is just under the dash on the passenger side, with the other end attached to a slave battery.(anything 12v, old car battery or jump pack.) This will instantly give you power to open the bonnet etc. Job done. This won't allow you to start the car, just enough to access the battery. The other benefit is it will save all the radio codes etc (as long as you keep it hooked up while you charge/ replace the min battery. ) Good Luck! Tim
By the drivers foot there should be a panel (RHS) which can be removed if necessary to get access to a type of terminal. U can attach a live feed (jump start lead from another car to this point ,)attach the negative to your door hinge and this should then provide enough power to get bonnet open (its like jump starting the bonnet release!!!) good luck

2005 boxster dead battery can not open hood? the fuse box door latch donor battery just makes things more frustrating as well as not working.
thank you for your help but the problem is that i can not even get access to the passenger compartment i need to open the bonnett from outside the car if you have any tips would be great
