The first thing to check on these jeeps is the wiring coming into the door. open the door and check the hinge area, in the middle you will see a rubber boot. inside the boot are the wires that feed the door. before you check that try to open the passenger side door to see if the dome light comes on when that door is opened. if light comes on with that door then check wires on driver door. if door light does not tturn on with pass door then you have module problems. if dome light operates with other door and wiring is good then you will have a bad door switch, this switch is the dome light switch, it will be on the door latch or on the pillar. good day.

You have a dome light/door ajar switch that is defective, the switch is a tiny micro switch attached to the door latch assembly inside the door, to replace it requires the door panel be removed.

The interior light on the doors of the car will not turn off. how do i turn them off? happens when the car is off.

most cases one of 2 things you turned the dash lights on to the point where the lights stay on.....or there are small switches that opens and makes contact to turn the lights on when the doors are open when you shut the door the contact is released and it turns the lights off. Some the times the wire can come disconnected and leaves an open switch and the doors thank that they are open therefore the light stays on it should have only one screw to hold it in place, you can gently pull this out and find out if the wire is no longer connected. Or if the door plunger gets broken off the door cannot turn the switch off because it is broken.

It sounds as if the door switch that toggles on and off for open door or closed door is defective or it is a problem with the timer associated with same.

I have a 2000 pontiac sunfire an the radio seems to stay on even when the car us turned completely off. What does that mean because it keeps killing my battery.?!

The most likely answer is that your vehicle's door pin switches aren't working. When you open the driver's door, does your dome light turn on? Your radio works with the vehicle's data bus to stay on until the door is opened; if the system can't tell that the door has been opened, then it won't turn off. The door pin switch should be mounted at the front of the door opening.

My 2006 Ford Fusion's radio won't turn off. Everytime I take the keys out and open the door the radio doesn't cut off!! Why!!!

U have a defective door ajar switch most likely, if this switch remains closed then the delayed exit feature stays on, this means the radio will stay on because the delayed exit module didn't sense the door was opened, try opening the passenger door to confirm this problem, any door should turn off the radio

Hi there,

I had a Saturn that did the same thing. It turned out to be one of the switches in the door jambs was broken. The fix was less than five dollars.

Check the switch for each door. Let me know what you find out. We can proceed from there.

Rear door won't stay shut

Check the latch mechanism on the door. There is a piece of the latch that closes around the clasp on the door frame. sometimes this closes when the door is open and you can't shut the door. Take a screw driver and flip this latch piece open and close the door.
