There is a temperature gauge on the st170! i have the exact same prob my engine warning light has been goin on and off for some time now and everytime i get it to a garage they either cant diagnose the fault or the light goes out!
but the oil temperature in my car also cools very quickly im not sure its anything to worry about its when it goes the other way you should start worrying!!

Hi. I have just changed my rear discs and pads on my ford racing puma. I wound the piston back as far as it will go, once the pads are in and bolted up the wheel will not turn even though the handbrake is not on.. Have I missed something or do I need to slacken the handbrake cable off more

My focus st170 is 6.5 years old, and has done approx 98K miles. This Morning the interior heater would only blow out cold air despite being set to the warmest setting. After a journey of only 2 miles or so...

Among things are a stuck thermostat. Oil problem can point to mixing oil and water from head gasket problem. The oil should be a separate system.

My focus st170 oil temp gauge is on the red what is causing this

Hi mate.

This could be caused by low oil level.

If this is not the case and you have the correct amount of oil, then I would suspect the sender unit ( maybe the wire has come off) or the oil pump has given out and needs replacing.

Until you sort this problem do not use the vehicle as you may damage the engine through lack of lubrication.

Warning light focus st170

Pretty much. The temperature is low enough that if your engine is not properly prepared for the cold you could experience engine issues. i.e. Frozen radiator, tube failures and other issues like low viscosity oil which would create lubrication issues and premature pump failure. Best to ensure that your car is wheater ready for the cold. DRRXR :)
