Over heating / no heat

blend door is inside the heat/ac box that contains the heater core that you changed. It is vacuum operated, so check all of your vacuum lines. There is a vacuum line that goes thru the firewall, right above or below the 2 heater hoses.

check for flow through heater core, also check mode doors

try changing the thermostat and make sure all the air is bled out of the system this should help your heat problem.before changing the stat with the motor at operating temperature grab the heater hoses to see if they are the same temperature or not.if they are the same then change the stat.if not the same temp then the heater core may be plugged or partially plugged and will have to be changed.still change the stat as they do get tired and won`t work properly.

that's like the thermostat not working properly... open the thermostat and see the different. if change positively, change the thermostat.

Its easy follow the top radiator hose back to the engjne to the goose neck the t.stat is under this part Drain some antifreeze from radiator you don;t have to drain itall out Remove clamp from hose to goose neck Remove bolts holding neck on you will lose a little antifreeze in the prosses Claen all old gasket meterial off bolth sides this is important it must be clean Remove old t.stat check the tempature stamped on t.stat replace with the same or similar temp you don;t change this to much Install new t.stat and gasket you can use a sealer it won;t hurt Install goose neck but don;t over tighten you can crack the neck 10 to 12 ft lbs is all you need BUT THE T.STAT IS NOT USELY NOT THE PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEMS you can try back flushing the system and putting new antifreeze first this may solve your over heating problem

Replace the thermostat which is located inside the lower radiator hose on the block side.

Get the Stant 195*F thermostat. As long as you replaced the engine coolant temp sensor than the t-stat is the next thing to replace. Also as a double check make sure your dial on the inside of the car is properly actuating the arm to move it to heat.

the t-stat is located on the front side of the engine underneath. you actually have better visibilty underneath the vehicle. i would perform a flush prior to replacing any parts. if it was the t-stat, you would also have over heat issues. a t-stat is nothing more then a temperature sensitive, mechanical restriction in the cooling system. wax pellets heat up during the warm up process allowing the engine to heat more rapidly during cold start and push the valve open allowing for flow to the radiator. go to your local parts store and for about $10 you can get a flush chemical which will help flush your system of contaminants and corrosion and then refill the system with fresh coolant and distilled water. be sure that the system is totally full and bled or you will know the first time you take it out and it over heat due to lack of fluid.

I took thermal stat off car again,place it in hot water till the stat open(to see if working).Place stat back in and not put the housing back on,disconnect the top hose,pored anti freeze into hose.Anti freeze started to drip out of thermal stat,as I was filling head the air was being pushed out.I could hear like a whistle,when whistle sound stopped put thermal stat housing on,hooked hoses up.did not over heat and have heat in my car now

Check the hoses going to inlet and outlet to heater core. You may have accidentaly hooked them up backwards since you said you flushed the heater core out. Also did the barsleak have the aluminum filings in it?

Try changing the t-stat and make sure the coolant is topped off and no leaks first.
