SOURCE: 1998 Jeep Wrangler Electrical Short in Steering Column?

I had a similar problem with my 2000 Jeep TJ and I found the problem in the wiring harness under the hood.several wires were corroded and almost burnt off.If you remove the black tape which keeps the harness bundled together and if you see evidence of "green" type powder or "gook" it's most likely where the wires have faulted.

SOURCE: windshield wipers stopped working on 1993 jeep cherokee

Did you plug them all back in? lol j/p

Do your blinkers and your back windshield wipers work? It's either electrical or mechanical. Turn them on and poke around to see if you hear the motor doing anything. If you hear it, it's probably a broken linkage. If not, start with the fuses and work from there.

It's possible that by unplugging the battery and then plugging it back it, the fuse for the wipers received an electrical surge, blowing it. Consult your manual to see where the fuse for your model is and check to see if it's blown.

SOURCE: windshield wiper lever broke off steering column

If it's a multi-function switch or a single function arm, you will need to remove the steering wheel to access the attachment points. If you never have done this, get a basic manual such as haynes or chilton. Both have decent instructions to guide you and after, they have lots of good info to help with other problems as well. Since it's an 89, it's doubtful if it has an airbag...that makes things a lot less complicated.

The whipers on my 93 jeep wrangler wont work

when they do not work turn the key to the run position, the vehicle does not need to be running, and the wipers set to high speed whack the wiper motor with the handle end of a large screwdriver. if the motor starts to work replace it.

Just bought a used 1990 keep wrangler. The turn signal k arm on the steer wheel is missing. Is the windshield wiper control on the turn signal arm as well? I do not see a place to turn on the wipers

just get one from a junk yard to remove it just push turn and pull the only thing is that if the car has cruise control you got to cut the wire... and to install it your car push in and turn wiper will work signals but no cruise control unless you go trough steering coloum

1989 Jeep Wrangler no power when key is in on position

Honestly, it sounds like a bad ignition coil. When they get corroded inside they will draw power on a scale much higher than anything else on the vehicle. It is a coil and it's job is to take a little power and make a lot of it. If it's only when the key is in the "run" position, that is likely the case. The only real difference between the two positions is that in the run position there is power being delivered to the ignition system. Good luck.
