Wife was driving truck when it quit running,tried to start it wont start.dash lite says low fuel,but put 5 gals in fuel gauge reads below empty.when sterting engine oil persure comes up to 20-25 lbs. checked for spark at a spark plug, cranked engine over no noticable spark at gapped plug wire to spark plug. any suggestions.
Ok you might need to open and close your key switch about ten times before trying to start it. Off position the on position, not start but on then off. Ten time.

Sounds like the fuel pump is shorted.

Check your fusible links; these are small wires molded into the middle of a bigger wire they are usually located up by the battery cables. When they burn they become discolored and softly flexible. Also check your relays too.

if the fuel pump is all in-tank; the sending unit built in to the fuel pump is most likely malfunctioning; if so, this will require removal and replacement of the entire fuel pump, sometimes expensive, others not so much

Most likely the oil pressure sensor is bad. Its located in the very rear of engine on top of bell housing area.

You will need to replace the fuel level sensor which is in the fuel tank.They have a lot of problems because the metal fingers on the sensor wear off and gives you the incorrect readings.This will also cause the check engine light to come on.You will probably have a level sensor code.This will be a lot easier if the fuel level is down to about a quarter tank or less.Also you should be able to get just the level sensor and not have to get the complete fuel pump module.Good luck.
