    Btw, the 98 Sunfire 2.4L doesn't have a "Baro sensor". It's called a "MAP sensor".

Hello oldiro: My name is Roger and I can help. From under the vehicle look up between the transmission and the side of the block. Mid motor above the pan rail there is a bolted in sensor. This should be the crank sensor.It will have two wires plugged in to it. Please rate this answer as this lets us know you received the information you asked for. Hello mitchoreb: My name is Roger and I will be glad to help with your answer. You will need to raise the vevicle in order to see the sensor. Make sure to use safety stands when ubder the vehicle when raised up.Look in the area behind the oil filter.Just in front of the knock sensor.This will be just above the oil pan rail.The knock sensor is a round sensor with a round plug.The crank sensor should hove a oblong plug. SOURCE: code came back as iat sensor reading high

the iat sensor is located either in the air cleaner housing or in the ducting that goes from the air cleaner to the throttle body

Security light lit on the instrument cluster ? It should have anti-theft system . No , can't just remove it . It has componets - key lock cylinder housing , software programmed into control modules etc... If you just removed or disconnected the pass lock sensor the pcm -engine computer would not see a coded message ,so it would disable fuel injectors an maybe starter . Your best bet ,have a qualified repair shop diagnose it .

if you have the 2.2 ecotech engine

the filter is directly in front of where you add oil, you will need a 24 or 32 mm socket with an extension to reach the black top enclosure.

they changed the size of the socket needed and i cant remember what year they changed it try the 24 first.

I need the location of a knock sensor on a 98 sunfire please

Look at the top of the engine block below the intake manifold. There you should find the knock sensor wherethe throttle cables connect to the throtle body, reaching it from underneath, and bolted to the top of the motor with a wire connctor, below comes a picture:

the crank sensor is located behind the oil filter. trace your wires from the coil pack and you will should be able to see it. if not pull your right tire off and your oil filter and thats were it should be.
