Start at basics, do not assume that this or that is good, verify with a scanner and/or multi-meter if possible.verify that when attempting to start that anti-theft didn't enable. usually icon of key with lock illuminated or theft light flashing, check and see if headlights dim(amperage draw or load) while attempting to start. this will ensure your problem is not anti-theft. if you have access to an obdII scan tool try and pull diagnostic code(s) if present . Question, how long has it been sitting? does your Transponder have a good battery in it? Try closing all doors and with transponder lock and unlock with transponder. some times replacement of battery with doors open will accidentally enable try to reset security feature.. sounds like this is going to be your problem area

As I recall, your Axiom has a Tow Rating of 5000 pounds -- but check your Owner's Manual to be sure. I have several friends who tow with their Isuzus (using 1st and 2nd Gen model Troopers and Rodeos) and pull pop-up campers, high-profile campers, ATV trailers, etc... There's even even one guy who pulls his Trail Rig (another Isusu) to various off-road events on an 18-foot tandem axle steel frame trailer -- All of them do so without any problem whatsoever. The thing is, all of them use a Load Distributing Hitch System, such as this: http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/subpages/hidden-hitch-weight-distributing-hitch-systems.htm It makes a HUGE difference. I had the same issue in mine and it ended up being my spark plugs. I had to replace them with "Isuzu" brand plugs and my light turned off.

check engine light indicates that the computer in your vehicle has sensed a electrical problem pretaining to the performance of the engine usualy a diagnostic scan would determine the actual cause, vehicle has to be hooked up to a diagnostic tools.

there is no dipstick or filling ports in the engine bay. underneath the car near the valve boby pan there are 2 bolts, one for draining the trans., and one for filling the trans. this is not the easiest of repairs and it is quite messy. drop cloths or some kind of catch would be wise. first drain the pan by removing the lower bolt. allow the fluid to completely drain and reinsert bolt. next remove the larger (valve body) pan. there is a filter that you will see is held in place by 3 bolts, remove filter and replace with new one. clean mating surfaces of all debris and fluids. next apply the gasket to the pan you just removed and cleaned. fill the empty pan with about 3-4 quarts of new ATF. a second pair of hands here is recommended. together realign pan to trans. careful not to spill fluid! apply a few bolts to allow for free hands. insert all bolts DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLTS! this is very important, only tighten bolts until gasket just starts to squish. over tighten and you risk a new leak.
now the messy pain in the **** part. in oder to check fluid level, you need to have car parked on level ground. remove the upper bolt from the pan you just reapplied. You will need some sort of pump and a few feet of hose to complete the filling process. fill until fluid runs back out the hole, quickly insert bolt, tighten to specs. and wipe exterior of pan to see for any new leaks.
this should solve any trans. slips do to ATF seepage.

I have found that one can mark (Paint pen) the gears and teeth (One tooth and one corresponding belt rib) on each gear prior to removing the belt. You can then overlay the old belt on a new belt and mark the same spots on the new belt and then install the belt so your marks on the gears and belt line up as they did before you removed the old belt. Given that your timing was right to start with....if done correctly, this will work.
