My battery went dead and had to jump start the van, however the person helping me crossed the jumper wires. After correctly jumping the van everything works except my radio. There isn't a blown fuse and everything else seems to be working correctly. What should I look for or does the radio have to be replaced? Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Try to disconnect your battery terminal by disconnect negative (-) pole first and then positive (+) pole for 1 minute, this procedure to resetting the ECU. Hope this can work.
I believe the Kia has 2 fuses for the radio, one in the cabin, and one in the engine compartment. Check them both. If they are good, your radio is toast.

Check your battery cables and starter cables especially the connectors and bolts under the hood. The bolts and connections could be loose or corroded. Check the connections near the battery and on the battery since many times mechanics mess with these the most. My guess is something is loose if it starts well most times, but fails occasionally. Did you look for blinky codes or DTCs? A '47' (or P0562) could mean a bad battery or alternator, and a '12' (or P1684) could indicate intermittent connections. Do the dome lights dim or stay well lit when the clicking is heard during cranking? If so, then the issue is most likely near the battery and if not then the issue is more likely near the starter. Good luck. There are a lot of wires under the hood.
Jumping a dead battery is a dangerous practice You have to fully charge a dead battery before putting it back in service Have the battery tested Get a fuse cover from a salvage yard
hot wire starter you can short out ignition switch and wiring. to jump starter ignition switch start postion.you have to run 10 gauge jumper wire from the starter solenoid positive battery terminal to starter switch or S terminal on starter solenoid this procedure take two people but better remove starter replace starter solenoid. trying jumping off starter on camaro would be dangerous you have jack up car to get to starter and wiring person laying under car hot wiring starter while other person hold ignition start position put person under car in deadly position just remove starter have auto parts check it out first replace starter or solenoid if either bad. easier hot wire starter if starter under hood like my 1977 vega monza had starter at top could take long screw driver jump starter off.on the four cylinders engines back in the 70s. camaro starter under car dangerous trying to hot wire not a good idea.
Battery and fuses , No problem for the solenoid and starter if the wiring inside the vehicle have not been disturbed . Jus replace the battery or charge it up . and get ur blown up fuses changed ,
YOU DO.
Pull another car or battery to front of car ,,and get the set of jumper wires (RED/BLACK) Red lead goes to Poss term (the biggest one) on both cars ..
Then the black lead goes to the earth side of battery
When started let engine run for 2 minutes and then remove the Black lead first on both cars then the Red lead, then let it run for about another 6 minutes or take it for a drive ,,,but connect the leads around the correct way to batterys......
