1996 grand prix se running hot

I have a 96 grand prix se and hve change water pump because it was leaking and after that it started running hot 240 so i change thremosatic no change still running hot was told radator had been changed just have brought it last week been trying to get this solved have anybody got a bad water pump new or any suggestion on what to do next? it did not run hot the night i drove it home started when i change water pump

    thx i have found how that the belt dia is diff. for 3.4 and 3.1 l and the motor has been changed so i am going to change the belt dia and that will fix the problem i think because it will change the rotaion from c cockwise to clockwise will let u know what happens

    i tried the belt thing and it did not help i think now it may be stopped up but trying to work better tho going to try to flush it out more

It sounds like it may have air in the system there should be a bleeder valve for the coolant also if it ran hot you may have a possible head gaskt problem i would try bleeding the air out of the coolant system and if problem is still there you can buy a kit to check the head gasket it hooks to the coolant system and you pour a liquid in it and if it turns from blue to yellow it has a head gasket problem

find the bleed valve on coolant system and burp it. make sure you are using a good 50/50 mix of coolant.
maybe run a coolant system cleaner . maybe a clog?

more than likely one of your heater hoses has sprung a leak ... if your car is not over heating with water in it than your water pump is fine.... the gasket around it may need to be replaced tho ... start your car then you look for your leak please get back to me

96 grand prix se engine problems

Your problem may be a faulty (shorted) ignition coil housing assembly (the white plastic cover housing the coils its bolted to the aluminum cover) change that along with the spark plug boots ( the boots are optional but I recommend it) that should get your Grand Prix running smooth. Make sure your cooling fans are coming on when the temp heats up. Are you talking about a leak inside the car or outside? Inside is usaully a drain tube for the A/C stopped up. Outside, look for a water pump or intake gasket.

Are you sure you put the thermostat in the right direction? The 195 degree copper bulb shold be on the bottom side. If it is a stock one.

most likely, the thermostat needs to be replaced.
