Your Navigation disc usually is in the CD player. Most require the First Disc to be the Navigation disc. Now if this disc was removed or if someone changed the position of #1 disc and inserted something else, then that is why you have your message.
It is also possible that removing the Battery from the car may cause it to lose the programming in the Navigation. It may simply need the Navigation disc to be reread.
NAV unit uses a DVD disc. If its a copy, it may or may not work. I suggest you remove the NAV disc, unplug the NAV unit from power for 4-5 minutes, reconnect the NAV and try inserting the disc again to see if it reads. If it still does not read, another NAV disc needs to be inserted to verify its not a "bad" NAV DVD disc issue. If it still cannot read the second disc, the NAV unit is bad. The handbook feature needs the disc inserted in the slot 1 of the CD changer unit.
Installing the DVD Map Disc
Your dealer/retailer may have installed the map DVD. If the map DVD was not installed, do the following to load it:
Read the following steps completely.
Turn the ignition on. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to perform this operation.
Press (power) to turn the navigation system on.
Press the NAV hard key.
Touch the Insert Map Disc screen button. The screen opens to access the map DVD slot.
Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system pulls it in.
The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard. Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
Set the search area. See "Setting the Search Area" earlier in this section.
Ejecting the DVD Map Disc
The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded.
Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
Touch the Map Database Information screen button.
Touch the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
Press the eject button, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out.
The DVD for the navigation is not loaded into the 6 disc changer. Push the passenger seat all the way forward and up. Get in the back seat and you can access it from there. There is a cover that might need to be popped down.
