My son has a 2001 SC2 3 door Saturn. Last night when he went to get into his car the front drivers side floor boards and mat were soaking wet. Not the passenger side. Could not find a leak anywhere. We dried it up left it in the garage overnight and again this morning there was water on the driers side floor boards. Any suggestions?
Is it antifreeeze from heater core or heater core hose leak? Is the leak pure water, or maybe something else?
Put it in the garage again overnight with an old white towel in the drivers foot well, best if you can find a way to stretch it from drivers seat forwar to firewall and keep it off of floor mat. Check it before you go to bed, then in the morning if no leak found yet. see if the color/location of the spot helps you identify the source. I think the heater core is under the dash center. Anti freeze is green/yellow or orange.
good luck
Very odd, Â the towel or a similar trick should help you locate/isolate, Â please let us know, the suspense is killing me;~).
Of course you are sure that there is antifreeze in the cooling system (maybe you bought it second hand ? and haven't looked), right? Â check the coolant overflow reservoir anyway for proper level.
Sometimes the A/C drain gets clogged and will leak water, but it should have all leaked out, it's fall now and the volume of this would be less than you describe ... unless you live in the Amazon;~)
Both of these would originate from the center under dash area.
This is a good one for NPR's CarTalk, Steve and Ray M. ... I want them to be scratching their heads;~)
please rate all solutions
Hmmm. betting they are right. Â Car sitting at the perfect angle to drain very slowly down the A post, underneath the plastic trim, unseen. Â Dealers are pretty smart sometimes;~) Â ... of course they probably didn't figure the first one out so fast;-)!
Hope it's a 100% effective! Â Good luck

Thank you for your response, the leak is pure water.. WE already dried it out overnight, it was dry last night. but again this morning after he drove it there was water on the drivers side.
Thank you to all, The leak is pure water. I also called Saturn and they think that the sunroof drain is stopped up. We did the overnight trick, we dried up the water with towels and a blowdryer. and then left it in the garage overnight. and then had water show up again on the drivers side only after driving the car this morning- Thursday. We had heavy rain in NC on Monday and Tuesday ( of course we have had heavy rains before and no leaks) so this was puzzling that it took a full day - Wednesday for the leak to start.
I've had the same problem for almost a year now. I completely dried the drivers side floorboard and this morning it was soaking wet. It DID rain, but it does the same thing even when it doesn't rain. Its not wet on the outer part of the floorboard at all. (like the area surrounding the door and the upper part of the floorboard. Its completely wet in the area of the floormat more towards my car seat. It is pure water, its not antifreeze. I don't know where to even begin looking for the problem. I also have a sunroof/moonroof and my car is a 97 Nissan 200sx.
leak in drivers side front floor not passenger side
water apparently not coming from under carrage or door gasket/windshield gasket. What is causing this water only on drivers side?
