How to replace side mirror glass and frame ? 2002 Chevy astro van

I ordered replacement mirror glass for the passenger side mirror. I expected to just glue the replacement in the old frame. The new glass came with a frame and mounting tabs. How do I get the old frame / mounting out of the mirror housings / cover?

    how do i get the glass portion of the passenger side mirror out without ripping apart the tabs? i allready took the plastic portion off around it but cant find out how to unlatch it i have a 07' 1500 silverado

It should snap out and the new one snap in. Most auto glass companies can order just replacement glass from burco mirror. http://brokencarmirror.com/replacement/mirrors/

You can usually just replace the mirror, any commercial auto-glass store has the glass you need. sometimes it is necessary to replace the mirror and its backing (a plastic frame which snaps into the adjustable motor) you don't need to replace the whole mirror unless the housing is broken.

You need to remove the internal door panel, then you can see the screw to remove the side mirror. Sometime you need to remove the glass before you can reach the screw.

remove the broken glass with putty knife. go to a auto glass shop they can sell you a replacement heated mirror glass. the new glass is just glued to plastic housing in mirror and just plug in 2 little wires to back of glass were heat element is.hope this helps good luck.

Removing and replacing passenger side mirror 2002 town and country van
there should be a triangle shaped plastic section on the interior of the door behind the mirror, check it for a little plastic screw cover to remove it or you may just have to lever it gently to remove it.
once it is off it exposes the mirror retaining bolts which you undo to remove the mirror, I presume it has electric mirrors and if that is the case you will have to find the electrical wire plug for the mirror and pull it apart, replace mirror in reverse order of removing

Replacing passenger side mirror
you have to buy the whole mirror because they are specially made to have better view, and some times there is a little plastic molding inside that snap out to remove the bolts, but some times you have to remove the whole door panel in order to do it.
