I am currently trying to figure out what is wrong my my headlights. When I am driving with the headlights on, there is a clicking noising coming from the glove box. Upon further inspection I noticed that one of the relay's gets extremely hot. I have switched out all the relays with new ones but the clicking is still there. I have even taken my truck into the shop to have them fix the issue and they were unable to fix problem. I have been doing research to see if others out there have had same issues. I have come across a couple possible leads. One says to locate the power distribution terminal( don't know where it is at) and take off the wires and clean real good. Another says to open up the dashboard and talked about finding a one inch long bar and bending it because it wasn't contacting the plate when hot. Hopefully someone can assist me on this
Sounds like a bad ground.check for a body to frame and frame to engine ground. Sometimes people remove them when working on other things and do not put them back on. They can also corrode and rot away.
You may have a high resistance problem , voltage drop testing is the way to find on which side of the circuit B+ or ground has the problem ! Do you have an know how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? How to use wiring diagrams an read one ? Mastering Voltage Drop Testing with Pete Meier and Jerry Truglia Watch these training videos ! Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know
Free wiring diagrams at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter your vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Then under system click on lighting , then under subsystem click on headlamps .Hit the search button ,then click on the link . If watch the voltage drop video an follow thier direction you will find which side has the problem . Checking has to be do with the headlamps on .
Good luck , an test don't guess .
SOURCE: clicking noise
I own
a shop, and think this: The clicking noise you are hearing may be a relay
that is going or gone bad. They make a clicking sound when the latch in them
pulls in to activate power, or ground to a circuit. The way to resolve it is;
you must find which one is making the clicking sound, but first do this; Make
sure all battery cables are clean, making a good connection, and are tight.
Also; check the ground strap from the engine to the firewall to make sure its
getting a good ground. Sometimes it makes sense to purchase a spray can of
electronic cleaner from the parts store, and remove all the relays one at a
time, and give them a good cleaning. Pay close attention to the plugs on
them, as they can sometimes short from corrosion, and cause this exact issue.
This will more than likely fix the problem. You can't say a relay, or
anything else is bad until you rule out a connection as being the problem.

Your year Pathfinder, as mine, had a slew of bad head light switches. The headlight switches caused a slurry of intermediate nightmares for a lot of customers. Many complaints included:
1. My head lights sometimes turn off upon switching from low to high beams.
2. My lights turn completely off when I switch to high beams.
3. My lights flicker when I switch from high to low beams and vise verse.
4. My lights sometime wont turn on at all.
5. My lights go on and off on bumpy roads.
6. My lights sometimes come on by themselves.
All of these different but similar complaints contribute to the infamous head light switch. There has even been reports of continuous dead battery's due to the head light switch turning the lights on and off intermittently and eventually deadening the battery.
The light switch is relatively easy to replace. Simply remove the the two upper and lower steering column covers, disconnect the two wiring harness bulk head connectors, a couple screws and wallah.
Remember your safety and always dissconncet your your battey upon electrical repairs.
Just last week I bought a new head light switch for about $70.00. I would highly recommend buying a new head headlight switch and not buying a junkyard special. You will likely be buying another faulty switch.
Good luck!!!!

SOURCE: headlights flicker all the time
Hi, my name is ricky and im 24 yrs old and from Bronx, N.Y . I bought my 03 impala in 04 and i had the same problem in 2007 in which that clicking noise happens. The headlights flicker, and even the gauges inside the car would flicker at times. It has nothing to do with fuses or a relay, please dont spend money on that b.s. like i did..lol I will try my best to explain what i did so that you can save some money and time. READ EVERYTHING AND USE ADVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
1st of all - I went to a junk yard/auto salvage yard to find a USED part that i needed. Often there are good parts from cars that have been totalled.
2nd- What i asked for was a Body Control Module. This controls most of the electric issues you are having and costed me about 50 dollars compared to a new one that was over $200 and reached up to $500.
3rd- I went head first under the steering column and found where the BCM was located. Poke around to find it cause it is def. there, hidden well. It doesnt take special skill to remove it or find it.
4th-Replace the BCM, but be advised that after you do this, your car might not crank over.My car did crank over because i installed a automatic starter previously so i could have started it with the remote start.
5th- you MUST take the car to a chevy shop so they can Program your car to the body control module this costed me about $250.
All together this information has to help you in someway.

I hope this helps...im not saying it is a 100 percent guarantee for you, but i had this same problem recently and this was the answer to my problem. By the way, never buy a american car again or a GM product for that matter...Kudos

I would recommend replacing your relay. From what you have described your battery might be bad. The clicking you heard is consistent with this. Natuarally though the relay is probably cheaper to fix. Also if you're car was slow to start or was dragging when you were trying to start it, you may have a bad starter, which would cause the aforementioned
SOURCE: Clicking noise coming from relays in fuse box
Have you noticed any water or other signs of a leaking windshield under the dash. It sounds like you have a GEM module problem, it bolts to the back of the fuse/relay box. If it is from water damage you will need to replace the fuse box aswell as the GEM (generic electronic module) don't forget to reseal the windshield.
