How do i change the oil on a 1997 chevy venture
There is a drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan you remove to drain the oil its ether a 15mm or 14mm wrench while the oil pan is draining out unscrew the filter apply a thin coating of oil on the gasket of the new filter make sure the gasket from the old filter didn't stick to the engine install the drain plug and new filter add 4 quarts of new oil and run the car recheck for leaks and oil level that one holds 4 quarts or 4 and half not sure but 4 will be safe to start the engine

What you need to do is turn the ignition key to the on postion (but do not start the vehicle). Next, push the trip odometer button a few times until the word oil appears on the screen. There will be a number next to the word oil. Hold the button in until the number 100 appears next to the word oil and then your good to go. Let me know if you have any further questions about this. If your oil light is on, then it'll mean either your oil level is below the recommended level; the oil pressure sensor is bad, there's a leak somewhere reducing the pressure of the oil); the oil pump is faulty
SOURCE: how do i reset change engine oil light on a 2000
1. With the ignition key in RUN but the engine off, fully push and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
2. Turn the key to off.
IF the CHANGE ENGINE OIL light comes back on, the engine life monitor has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
I have noticed personally that I have press my accelerator 5 times. Each vehicle has it's own idiocyncracies
