I need to get the alarm disabled cause it keeps going off, took it to dealership they want hundreds of dollars in labor to find out what the issue is.. I called audio express and they will disable it for $50.00 bucks if its an after market alarm, but if its a factory they cant. Why is that? And how do I determain if its a factory or after market alarm. Dont they have that on record somewhere at the dealership what they put in my jeep before I got it. Please Help.
The factory alarm is tied into your ignition switch. Most newer vehicles have an anti start system incorporated into this in case it is broken into. The alarm will shut the system down and will not allow the vehicle to start. Look under the dash under the driver side and see if you can locate a small box. Should have a serial number barcode on it. If so it has a factory alarm.

SOURCE: Looking to disable the alarm system for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport
you need to find out which wires go to what like the ones going into the alarm and the ones coming from the car u might have to put them back together..hopefully they are color coordinated for you good luck
SOURCE: alarm wont disarm and unlocking doors does not work any suggestions?
I just had the same problem with my 1995.. believe me its a pain! by the way on the driver side below the steering wheel close to the door there should be a hidden pink (or any color) plastic box which basically controlls the cars security system... i removed it and i was good to go...try that... the only thing though is that you wont be able to lock the doors automaticaly, ull have to do it manually

According to the people at jeep it can not be disabled. WRONG!!!! here are the steps that work.
First you must pull the plastic off the front of the dash on the passenger side.
Behind the glove box you will find a metal box shaped compartment.
Inside that box is your alarm. DO NOT DISCONNECT IT YET!!!!!!!!!!
The most important thing is the jeep must be running before you disconnect the alarm.
Start the jeep and look at the little box and you will find one screw that is holding the alarm box in place. remove the screw and disconnect the wires going to it.
At this point you can turn off the jeep.
The reason you must have the jeep running is the computer shows it has an alarm in place and if you disconnect it while the jeep is not running it will shut down the jeep thinking it has been stolen.
With the jeep running and you disconnect the alarm it will not be able to send the code to the computer showing an alarm is in place and the jeep alarm will not cause you any problems ever again..

SOURCE: When I unlock my jeep the alarm goes off.
On some cars/trucks/SUV's, the alarm will go off if the car is unlocked with the key or if the door is opened (even from inside the car with the alarm set). Unlocking with a key does not always turn off a car alarm. Best advice, go to the dealership to get a new key-less entry remote, or get a new alarm installed with a remote to override the original alarm system.

Try Turn your vehicle on, while its on unhook the alarm box from behind the dash. if you attempt to do this without the vehicle on it will not work. an other solution would be to ground the purple and yellow wire on the drivers side door
