My Husband pulled the stereo out and we can not get power to the new stereo and the central locking and interior light do not work and i have tried turning the car on and running it for a while and i have checked the fuses and i am now at a loss
Alot of new cars have the imobilizer in the stereo ,for you sake i hope he didnt chop off the old stereo plug ,he needs to refit the old stereo ,

well it turns out that it was fuses and that is....it was in a yellow box thing under the hood....the only ones i didn't check

The same thing happened to me...its a fuse under the hood under the black box.There should be a little yellow thing holding two small fuses...check those ok.

Had a similar problem audi come into my shop. No headlights, blower motor would not work, wipers would not work. After dinking around found ignition switch wires had burn't up. Remove top steering column by taking out two very small philips screws from under column. Look at top LH side of column w/ top cover removed. Probably will find wires burnt up.

sounds like your radio shorted out and posably burned up the wiring harness in the dash
go to local stereo shop have them pull radio and look for burnt wares once fixed replace fuse under dash

on the BMW there is an electronic control module that controls all of these functions, sounds like you have a problem with it. Check your fuses, if non are blow there are dealers on e bay that can repair it for around the £70 mark. I have a similar problem with my 3 series
