The switch will not turn completely off.
I have had a similar issue with my 2004 Accender and my 1998 Chevrolet Lumina.
In my case both vehicles are automatics and for some reason the park sensor did not pick up that the shifter was moved to the park position. All I have had to do is to place my foot on the brake (for safety) then pull the shifter into gear and back to park a few times and it took and the key released.
Additionally, the steering wheel will not lock into place unless the car is fully in Park, this will also tell you that you might want to either check and replace the sensor or just work with the shifter a little till it works again.
Okay here goes. I looked up answers to get my key unstuck!!!!! it would not turn all the way back to allow my key to be removed. So i got alot of answers and the best one i could find was to wiggle or move around the stiff black cable under the dash board. you will feel it it's a tenshion cable. moving it around might help! But what worked for me is the button of your shifter noob (auto only) do it while the car is turned off and car is in park. Push in the shifter button and let it go very fast so it snaps out the turn key out! I'm the best. Jk just a bit of work to figure this one out. Hope it helps
Have you tried giggling the wheel right and left and getting the key out or is the key brok off in the ignition? In which case you will have to call a locksmith
please post what you decide to do

my key has been stuck in the ignition for two days now the gear shift is not locked when I turn the key as far as it will go its right on the verge of clicking to acc so I have to keep a sweater wrapped around the steering cloumnits almost as if the key doesn't recognize that its in park
