SOURCE: I must remove and replace
Disconnect the battery.
Remove the plastic trim around the steering column, there are three or four small screws holding on the switch assembly pull it straight off after you carefully disconnect any wiring
SOURCE: I have a 1990 Dodge D250 seems like the gas is
could be the fuel filter or the fuel pump filter. Both of those could keep u from getting enough gas to stay running withou pumping it
SOURCE: Can't get ignition lock cylinder out of switch
there is a pin that comes from the lock cylinder that goes through a hole in the switch and locks it in.normaly you have to turn key to on and tap the pin back inside the cylinder. if you cant turn to on then there is no recess for the pin to tap into.
hers what i do
take the key out
lay it on a vise or similar but lay it on a part of the cylinder not the switch
bash that pin in untill it clears the hole in the swtch
or drill it out, either way you want
the new cylinders, at least those bought from the dealer or not coded that means no wafers or springs are installed
you have to transfer your wafers and springs over to new one in the proper sequence i recomend new ones cause the old ones are worn out along with the key and you will soon if not imediatly have the same problem
just take your old and new cyl. to dealer parts dept. the guy at the counter can code it for you and cut a new key by code. it dont cost that much and its worth it
