SOURCE: pontiac sunfire

I had that problem last year. I bought a new starter but it was not the correct one for my car. For the 98 there are two different starters. I bought the wrong one the first time. My step father started to put it one and realized it was not the same as the one he just pulled off. Ending up taking it with us when we returned the orginial one I bought. The orginial one I bought was about $70 the correct one was $400. The auto store did not have the correct one listed as a replacement part. Until the number off of the part was keyed into the system and found out that it was just not the common replacement part.

SOURCE: pontiac sunfire valve noise

If it's a ticking noise that speeds up with the speed of the engine, it's a worn valve lifter.
You can try tightening it down by taking the valve cover off and tightening the bolt on the rocker arm, but don't tighten it too much, you will end up with other problems.

1997 pontiac sunfire has an engine immoboliser system - the security light is not blinking - the car will not start

If the security light stays on for more than 5 seconds on initial start up. Check out this link. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/ if no security light present, it's probably something else.

I accidently poured antifreeze in the oil resevoir of my 1998 Pontiac Sunfire. What should I do?

You need to drain 1 quart of oil, pour in a bottle of engine cleaner, let car run for 3-5 min and drain oil. Install a new oil filter and re-fill with correct oil and amount. You can get by with just draining the oil and doing an oil change but I suggest running the engine cleaner along with changing the oil.

Yesterday my 1998 pontiac sunfire ran out of gas, am i going to need to do anything besides add more gas to get it running again?

shouldn't have to....just put gas in it...and please don't run no additives in your engine/tank...your engine is not designed to burn the additives that are available on the after market...
