The hubs left my lights on and the battery died. When he replaced the battery, everything on the dash stopped working. Speedometer, Odometer, RPM, gas gauge, all of it. We changed out 2 of the fuses (a suggestion I found online yesterday) and it still isn't working. Please help!
Modern computer controlled cars shouldn't be jumped from the battery at all, as the extra voltage needed can cause problems. Fry what don't need to be fried as it were. If no other choice, always hook red cable to positive side of battery but on the car being jumped, hook the negative clamp to an unpainted bolt somewhere under the hood. That way if it sparks while hooking it up, it won't cause the battery to explode from gasses being released from battery. I have seen the explosion X2 times in the past few years from someone who was taught to hook up clamps to the terminals on the battery.
If possible, unhook the battery from cables before charging; using a proper battery charger, and after hooking up the clamps to the terminals plug in the charger to avoid any sparking.
I'm having a problem with my 1998 dodge ram all of my gauges read 0 before cranking it over all gauges work when cranked over accept my speedometer...odometer and my gas gauge goes to 3/4 full and stays there...im wandering if the speed sensor is causing the fuel gauge to stick along with the ABS light check engine light and break light..any answers?

have you by accident turned down the bright and dim switch near the head light? probably you were cleaning the car interior and might have shut it downcheck the dimmer switc by the head light seitch
SOURCE: instrument panel is not working
Found the problem! The main cable going to the under-hood fuse box was rubbing against the metal bracket that the fuse box mounts on. Can we say poor electrical layout?? It had rubbed the sheathing off the cable and had broken one wire (the one supplying power to the instrument panel.) So I fixed that and cut a section of rubber hose and put it over the bracket to help prevent such events from occurring in the future.

Sounds like you jumped it straight to the battery post,You need to reset the computer,To do this,Unhook the battery for 3 or 4 minutes and then hook it back up.This will reset it and as long as you didn't fry a sensor or relay,It should be fine.
Please take time to rate this fixya

Sounds like the car was running on just the battery. Recharge the battery with a plug-in battery charger, then see what happened to the charging circuit--alternator, drive belt, blown fuse--loose wire. This should have set the check engine light.

What do you mean when you say "jumped it straight to the battery post"? Is there another way to jump a car other than attaching it to the silver posts? He said he just attached it to the post and jumped it, but that didn't work at all.
aye im having the same problem have you found a solution
