Whistle when I accelerate

Does not whistle any other time but when I give it a quick jolt to up and go I get a light whistle from what appears to be the front end. Also my car idles at about 600 rpms in drive and vibrates strong while sitting at a red light in drive. However, once I put it in nuetral park or reverse the vibration goes away. Can anyone explain what these two might be? I keep hearing Idle control valve and vaccum lines.

2000 Pathfinder starts fine, after stopping, hesitates ran ok but now, I have to let it cool down for it to start and drive again. Changed fuel filter, helped but now s worse, 203,000 miles.

whistle on acceleration means there is a pipe off or a crack in airline or manifold. could even be the egr has blown. as if the cat had gone the way you have said it would of been open all the time the engine is running, and it's supposed to open and close on ecu commands

My 93 jeep grand cherokee laredo 5.2 has a loud whistling when accelerating. It has killed my fuel economy and i have no power when down shifting. I have already checked all fluids

Possibly the catalytic converter is plugged/broken up. I have seen this several times. It will idle fine, then when accelerating, it will whistle loudly and will not accelerate very well. Exhaust is your problem.

Locate radiator cap

A whistle noise is usually a vac leak.
The cap is where you fill the tank with coolant.

2003 PT Cruiser turbo. Has just 67k miles on it. Just began making a low pitched loud whistle sound on acceleration or load/uphill. Gets louder with greater acceleration/load, no decrease in power.

I took my car to Keller's Auto Repair in Gettysburg PA, He specializes in Chryslers. I have 04 Cruiser with 2.4 Turbo that had the same whistle noise, and check engine light on. He found code P0301. The noise was caused by the #1 Cylinder injector O ring. Check them out on facebook. They will help you.

Wind whistle noise

To determine what's making the whistle, try putting some tape over anything that might be causing it. I'd tape over any trim or moldings to try and find out where its coming from. You might try a wide roll of tape over the window edges, and trim points, if the whistle stops, take off a section at a time and recheck until it appears again, and you know what's causing it. Try to keep the tape flat, or you might create some new whistles! Let me know how you do. countrycurt0
