The side window to my Mazda MPV LX minivan wont go up. how can i fix this?
Did something get spilled on the window switch?:) If no noises and now just wont go up...does the window motor make a sound when trying to lower? If not, probably the switch is defective. You can have an auto electric shop, or good mechanic test the switch...or if you have access to a guaranteed used switch from a salvage yard or internet...changing this switch should restore the operation. The window motor or regulator could be defective...but usually the switch is the first problem...if something was spilled onto the switch, you can try a hair dryer to dry out, and retry...Hope this helps.

I just fixed this same problem. It happened to me 3 different times in
a month so I got good at it. Before you dive into removing your door
try this. Pull the door handle and release it letting it snap back
several times. The problem is a half open door latch that won't let the
door unlock. Do this as aggressively as you can to attempt to get the
latch to return to its original position. Check the door lock between
flicks.
Ok, if that didn't work, here is how to remove the door.
1. Remove the screw behind the door latch, you will have to pop the plastic cover off first.
2. Remove the rubber insert in the door handle
3. Remove the screw that is now visible
4.
Now remove the window/lock control module, the back is free but the
front has a plastic lip so lift the back up and pull towards the back
of the van.
5. Remove the clips that attach to the lock and to the window controls (these can be a pain)
5. (Optional) Remove the bracket that held the window/lock control module
At
this point your door is basically free, it is only held in place with
plastic clips that can be easily forced off. If your door were open you
would simple pull the bottom of the door out (hinged at the window) and
lift it off. But since we can't pull because the door is closed we have
to force it out.
From here it is pretty simple. Move the seat
all the way back and tip the seat way back. Lift the door panel
straight up. You will be breaking 2 plastic clips from the rear part
but once you do it just pulls out. This is not that easy because the
space is limited but just keep pulling and force the rear end of the
door panel past the b-pillar. Once you do this it is free.
Have fun and try to keep the black gook from getting everywhere.
Oh, to fix the door lock just oil/grease it and manually move the mechanism several times.

Try this, it works on several 2002 models:
Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.
Step 2: Lock and unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door.
Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.
Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT
- use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds.
Leave key in the ignition.
Step 5: Open and close the drivers door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).
Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.
Step 7: Press any button on remote #1. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.
Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.
Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a
final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done

Does the remote do anything at all? Lock/unlock doors etc.? If not it's likely that the remote needs to be reprogrammed (can be done easily with online instructions) or the obvious: the battery is dead.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Pull back the weather seal and you can readjust the window mechanics.

how can i get the side panel off?
If you are servicing the lock switch, the panel does not need to be removed...simply slide the switch to one side of the opening while lightly prying the other side of the switch up, lifting it out...reassemble the same way...If you do have to remove the panel to inspect the motor and assembly...you first remove the screws holding the armrest on...then pull panel up from the bottom...releasing the press in plastic retainers...then lift up on the panel toward the top of the door, you should feel the press in top section release...reasssemble the top section first...Hope this helps.
ok one more thing how do you take the handle that opens the door off of the panel?
Sorry, I forgot to address that...pull the handle to the full open position...you should find a retainer screw (usually a phillips head) just inside the handle...this removal allows you to slide the handle trim piece over the handle...the handle stays intact to the door...Hope this helps.
