You are experiencing what is called a CCD Bus short in the instrument cluster circuit board. (chrysler calls it the "chrysler collision detection buss) it is how all of the controllers and modules communicate on that vehicle. Get a new one and you should have no problems, and used ones are a HUGE gamble. Other vehicles that are extremely bad for this are, caravans, neons, sebring coupe/conv, strates, and cirrus. It will also cause a no start condition that is EXTREMELY hard to catch.

2000 Ram 1500 truck voltage gauge intermittently maxes out and check gauges light comes on. When you restart it, everything is ok for a couple miles, then the same thing. Sometimes it makes a whining noise...

The voltage output is controlled by the engine computer, so you may want to have a shop or dealer take a look at it.
If the computer is the fault, the replacement may have to be programmed.

Gauge lights

ABS and Brake warning lights intermittent may be caused by a failing wheel speed sensor(ABS Sensor) and /or its connector. You may have one on each wheel hub(4WD) or if 2WD, a sensor may be on the rear axle differential center.

Runs good shut off for a few minutes restart runs terrible engine spits and sputters

A bad fuel pump may cause a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l to run for a few minutes and just shut off without sputtering. It can also be that the fuel pressure regulator (on top of fuel pump assembly) is stopped up. Dodge Ram trucks have been named Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year three times.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P1757code p1762 code

P1757 verbiage is "Governor pressure above 3 PSI at 0 MPH". This circuit is continuously monitored with the engine running, not in park or neutral and the MIL not illuminated. The monitor must fail twice to illuminate the MIL. The MIL will illuminate as soon as it fails twice.

If you have any other DTCs set you need to determine their cause first as they could cause this DTC to set. Your idea of deleting the code and driving the vehicle is good because it will ensure that there is a problem, unless it's very intermittent. Based on my experience, this DTC will appear in vehicles that have not had regular transmission filter changes/flushes, in extremely cold weather or some combination of the two.

P1762 - Governor Pressure Sensor (GPS) Offset Volts Too Low Or High. This code will set if the governor pressure is out of range in Park or Neutral for 1.3 seconds. Three consecutive bad 3.0 second tests and sump temperature is greater than 50° F and less than 260° F are required to set the code.
Some of the possible causes are:
  • Transmission fluid level and condition
  • Powertrain Control Module
  • Sensor ground circuit open
  • Intermittent GPS signal
  • 5 volt supply circuit open inside transmission
  • GPS ground circuit open inside transmission
  • Bad GPS
There is little you can do to troubleshoot the system with out a Chrysler DRB scan tool. There are some voltage and resistance tests you can do and I would suggest looking in the Motors Transmission Manual for the proper procedures. You can find the Motors Transmission Manual in the Reference Section of your local Public Libra

Truck shuts off anfd restart right away, no trouble code.

First thing I'd check would be battery cables, at both ends for clean, good & tight. Does it ever do it while driving at highway speeds or just at slow speeds? Wet out, dry out?

The check valve on the fuel line at the filter housing may be leaking back not maintaining pressure when the engine is not running.
