Oil on coil packs and within the spark plug. When taking out the coil pack I can see oil coming from top going down into the spark plug chamber

if the coil goes into the valve covers i would install new value cover gaskets and that should take care of the oil getting on the coil packs or the coil packs are leaking and then you should change them.i looked up your vehicle and noted that the coils are separate from the valve covers,i would inspect the coils and the valve covers and replace as needed, if you find that the coils are leaking you should change it so that you don't have an ignition problem later, autozone has them for your car around 52each or 250-300a set with lifetime warranty

I would like to know how to change the spark plugs on the 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2 liter

unplug the connectors for the ignition coil packs, then unbolt coil packs, remove coil packs (all 6 are interchangable) then remove and replace spark plugs. There is a row of three coil packs behind the oil fill cap on the valve cover and three on the other side.

Every now and then i smell oil burning when i use my heat but u never see it on tha ground or anywhere

Most likely an oil leak around the ignition coil packs in the valve covers. Remove the center covers on the valve covers and remove the coil packs and see if you have oil in the spark plug wells and on the coil pack boots. If so you will have to replace valve cover gaskets and the orings around the coil pack holes. You can also get the coil pack boots separately if the are oil saturated.

I believe that year had distributorless ignition, instead it uses a form of coil on plug ignition system.

If you open the hood, stand at the front of the vehicle. Look to the left side of the engine, around the bottom of the valve cover (The valve cover is where the oil fill cap is. The oil fill cap is on top of the valve cover), at the bottom of the valve cover on the left side you will see a series of humps. Those series of humps is the coil packs, the coil packs are all in one long piece held down by three or four bolts.

Take out those bolts, gently pry up at the ends of the coil pack and it will eventually come out. You'll see on the bottom side the spark plug boots are attached to the coil pack. After you get the ignition coil pack off, you will see the spark plugs under where the coil pack came from, the boots on the coil pack sit directly on the spark plugs.
