Recently bought a diamond 84' which drives fine until it reaches over 40mph . on the highway cant get up the slightest hill starts to backfire and lose power once over the hill works good again until it reaches 55mph then feels like its flooding then backfires again

It could be the fuel filter. Check fuel pressure and volume.

I had the same thing on a 73 vega yes a vega don,t laugh to hard it was a super car, it started not to go when I shifted gears and ask for more fuel I had a guy at the shell station look at it and replaced the fuel fliter, it worked,, maybe the pump was replaced but not the filter

Replace fuel filter, spark plugs and definately plug wires. You should also make sure intake filter is clean and clear.

You want to check your timing for accuracy and then check all plug wires for burned or cracked ends. Also check the single coil tower where the coilwire connects for very small cracks. Then check the inside of the disrtibutor cap for the same small cracks. Throughout this process I'm certain you'll find the culprit. Thanks, Dana
