1994 Celica door lock-engine cut off problem.

My 1994 Toyota Celica was robbed a year ago. The crook broke the driver side door lock trying to get in. I got a temporary fix where I have to unlock the passenger side door to get in the car, but recently my car wouldn't start. A Pepboys mechanic told me that there is a factory "alarm" which is tied into the door lock that essentially prevents the car from starting. He jury-rigged a wire from the starter that I have to touch to the positive end of the battery to get the car to start. I didn't even know about this factory "alarm", so before I go somewhere to get fleeced and get it fixed, is there some easy way for a newbie like me to fix this problem? If not, what can I expect to be charged for? Any help is appreciated.

Look under the driver side seat for a small black box, with 3 wiring connection on it.. .

If it is there, post back..

I looked under the seat and there was not a small box with 3 wiring connections on it. Any other thoughts?

1992 toyota celica key wont turn and alarm system going off

The steering lock may be binding the ignition lock cyl preventing the key from turning or the key may be worn out. Try turning the steering wheel back and forth while wiggling and turning the ignition key. To get the alarm to turn off without starting the car try locking and unlocking the vehicle from the passenger side door. There is a micro switch on the drivers side door lock cyl that may be bad and preventing the alarm from dis arming. This is all providing it is a toyota factory alarm sys.

Apparently the central lock door motor is either faulty or getting jammed. Get an auto-electrician to look at it. Will cost you about $200 per door to fix it.

You might want to take the door panel off and check the metal rods that connect on the inside of the door to make sure that one of the plastic inserts hasn't broken. If you find that it has broken there are several different ways to fix that. Some use black tape, some use an epoxy. I don't recommend the epoxy due the the fact that that metal rod turns inside the metal bracket that controls the lock.

2002 toyota celica power door lock problem

Are you hearing any noises from the pass door when you activate the lock switch? If not, the power door lock solenoid has failed, and prob needs to be replaced. Pull the door panel & check to see if it is getting power to the solenoid in lock & unlock. If it has power, the solenoid is def bad.
