Transmission shifts fine but the engine is really loud inside the cabin of the car

sometimes shifts hard and you can not go over 40mph. check engine light comes on and it reads low voltage. Ive had four mechanics look at it with no success.

It is the Transmission Control Unit. you have to find the reason why the TCU is flashing the D4 fault code. not replace the unit. have your vehicle scanned for another code. your transmission or transaxle is giving you a warning that something is wrong .

The first thing you need done is to have a tranny repair shop scan the "TCM" (not TCU) for fault codes.

I have a 1992 honda accord dx, i can be in park and the D4 light is on, and the transmission will not shift properly when i put the car in gear, if the light goes out the car runs great, what do you think...

HI. This is a TCU fault. This is intermittently occurring at this time, but it will eventually get worse. You will need to have the TCU scanned for possible transmission trouble codes. I suspect that the TCU will need to be replaced or there may be an issue concerning the solenoid pack. You will need those codes to know for sure.

your transmission has external shift solonoids towards the front one is for 2 gears and the other for the other two i believe the lower one is the one you want ot replace they rust up and start binding inside.

Not shifting in 3 or 4 gear

What is is causing this is a faulty, damaged, or otherwise inoperative TCU or Transmission Control Unit. Very simple fix that most anyone can do with a proper diagram. If you are able to get hold of a graphic diagram you simply have to disconnect the battery, take out the two plugs that plug into the bottom of the computer, and replace the unit. If you are going to do this yourself I would advise spoending a very small amount and purchase a "Memory saver" so that you will not have to worry too much about the car having to "Relearn" itself. you can usually pick a decent TCU from a junk yard for anywhere between $50-$125.

Good luck and hope this helps.

'92 Accord TCU error 14?

If it feels like you only have 2 gears, and 1st is gone, then it sounds like the transmission computer needs to be replaced. Very easy self done job.

1992 honda accord. The gear shift will be in D 4 But the shifting lights for Park will come on and both lights will start blinking.

The d4 light will blink when there are codes in the tcu. You need to have the codes read on the transmission computer.
