Hi, I have just been trying to replace my disc and pads on my ford S Max. It has an electronic handbrake which i put into service mode.

If the piston of your brake caliper is all the way out, how do you plan on driving your vehicle to a repair shop ?

Have you tried bleeding the pressure out of the brake system ? Most vehicles with power assist in their brake systems can have the pressure released by pressing the brake pedal several times, until the pedal gets hard. Then you open the master cylinder cap and try to push the piston in slowly. Make sure to not damage the rubber seal around piston.

Brake service procedures

"Step by step brake service" is quite vague and could cover a very broad spectrum. There is a LOT involved in brake service, especially on a 2005 Cadillac CTS which has computerized brake control systems. I could help you if you are having trouble with a specific part of performing a brake service, but it is not practical to post all that is involved in brake service for your vehicle. For that type of information, I would recommend that you either purchase a service manual for your vehicle, or subscribe to an online automotive diagnostic and service information system like alldatadiy.com., where for a small anual fee, you will have access to the same PROFESSIONAL service information that I would use if you brought your Cadillac to my shop for repair.

2002 Buick Rendezvous Service traction system and ABS lights, grinding when turning ans braking

The ABS and Service Traction system may be due to bad sensors or signal reaching the ABS/Traction Control computer. The grinding may be due to uneven or unsmooth rotors, and/or worn out pads or shoes.

I would recommend that the entire braking system be diagnosed at your local dealer or brake service facility.

! with circle on dashboard

this means there is a problem in the brake system of the car and u should seek service from a dealer or qualified brake shop. here is a copied section of your owners manual about the light.

Brake system warning
Momentarily illuminates when the
ignition is turned to the RUN
position to ensure the circuit is
functional. Also illuminates if the
parking brake is engaged. If the
brake warning lamp does not illuminate at these times, or remains on
after releasing the parking brake, seek service immediately.
One of the following conditions may exist:
² low brake fluid level in the reservoir.
² Brake force distribution system failure. The ABS light will also
illuminate if this condition is present.
