What needs to be fixed if my ESP light stays on and my car seems bogged down?

One day my car started feeling bogged down and my ESP light came on. When I went to go at a red light it wouldn't move until i reved the engine to 2 RMP then the ESP light came on and stayed on. Had it hooked to a machine and all the codes came up that meant nothing. Do i need to have the ESP system replaced???

It could mean that some emission-control device has failed or is due for replacment. Common items would be oxygen sensor (not too expensive) and catalytic convertor (pretty expensive).

The problems need to be fixed before they erase the codes otherwise the codes will reappear. I hope they didnt do that just so the warranty would run out.

SOURCE: Holden Viva- Automatic transmission troubles.

Hey mate, Had exactly the same problem. Suggest you take the car to your local auto transmission repair centre (not holden) and they can check the electrical diagnostics - if it the Transmission inhibitor Switch (as it was on mine - if so should cost you no more than 1 hour labour and about $75 - $95 for the switch.

SOURCE: My 2003 Aerio started cutting

Hello
The engine in you car is electronically fuel injected and the whole system is controlled by a digital computer called the "PCM" or Powertrain Control Module, so whenever you experience a problem like you are having with the Service engine soon light on this means the PCM has detected a fault in the system and it has set a fault code or codes for this fault. What you must have done 1st to begin the process of diagnosis of the problem is have the PCM hooked up to a tool called a Scanner, it connects at a diagnostic port under the dash in front of the driver, it will pull the codes out of of the memory of the PCM and display a a message that indicates which system of the electronic controls is at fault, this can be a wiring problem or a sensor issue, other areas are loss of proper fuel pressure due to a failing pump or even the PCM module is defective, but that is rare.

Not shifting after 40 mph, could it be something other than tranny issues??

Sounds to me like the car is in limp mode. This happens when the cars computers see something very wrong, and locks the transmission into second gear. This would explain the boggy feeling at take off and the limited speed. You should definitely get your check engine light checked out to see what code is there. Only then can you pursue the problem further.

The ABS and the ESP/BAS light is staying on. Seems to stop and drive fine. Doesn't feel out of alignment.

have brakes checked as when at about 20-25% remaining will cause light to stay on but brakes feel fine and no brake noise will appear

Abs, esp, brake and traction light on

Oh I have exactly the same problem right now!! Machanics are saying the back LH speed sensor is faulty however when they checked the computer there were no error codes. The braking issue has stopped but warning lights have been on constantly for three weeks now :( Its due to go back to the machanic in a few days so they can have another look.... What ended up being the problem with yours?

2000 grand am bogs engine light flashes stays on for awhile then goes off

The flashing light is indicating an "over fueling" condition that can cause damage to the catalytic converter.
A defective or stuck injector is typically the root cause.
Take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone and ask to have the trouble codes read. Write the codes down and respond back to me, we can get started on fixing the issue.
