'99 Town & Country 3.3L won't start, hear clicks coming from the fuse/relay box or just below it. Any suggestion? Won't boost, battery is tested and good (only 6months old btw).

When I try to start it just clicks. The clicks are either coming from the relay/fuse box or something that sits directly below it. Not sure what is below it. It will not boost off and the battery is only 6 months old, tested and good.

Do you know where the starter/starter solenoid are located on a '99 T&C 3.3L?

  • David Roberts May 14, 2012

The starter motor is at the junction between the engine and the gearbox. It is normally underneath the vehicle, a rounded shaped cylinder around 20- 30 cm long and 10- 15 cm in diameter. the solenoid is the other smaller cylinder attached to this. It is quite small around 10 cm in length and 5 cm in diameter. What you need to do is take the whole starter motor off after you have disconnected the wires, (don't forget to note where they go back on), normally 2 bolts perhaps 3. Once you have removed it take it along to a automotive dismantlers and ask them to check your starter. Ask them to replace the solenoid. Good Luck

This is definitely an issue with your clockspring. The clockspring is a device in the steering column that provides electrical contacts for horn, cruise and airbag. The good news for you is this part is covered under a Chrysler warrantee / recall.

Download a service manual (usually free) from this site. It has the detailed circuit and relay assembly diagrams. It is a reasonably large document - so you may have to be patient.

The car won't start; lights, ac, radio etc come on but car won't turn over or even click; checked battery cables; put different battery in; still won't start

Check the starter and the starter relay or fuse. A client of mines car was doing the same thing, it ended up being two issues, the starter not working anymore, and a relay that was bad. If I am not mistaken everything should be labeled in the fuse box under the hood and will tell you where the fuse/ relay is for your vehicle

I Have a 94 cherokee country with a 56028297 ecu,it has no power at the grey wire at the ecu,it does flash sometimes and I can hear the relay work sometimes. I can bypass the fuel pump relay circuit and...

If you hear relays clicking sometimes and the jeep won't start, at those times, is the check engine light illuminated on the dash, or not? If no check engine light is on the dash, at times when the jeep won't start, your ecu is in need of repairs. The ecu sends power to the ignition and fuel relays and when the ecu starts to malfunction, the relays usually start clicking.
