Speedometer, tachometer, fuel, and temp gauge not working

I have a 1996 vw jetta that i pulled dashboard out and replaced the heater core. When i put it all back together the instrument cluster worked for a minute then the gauges stopped working but the digital odometer and clock work. The gauge lights flickered but when i tapped the pod they came on and stayed. I think i might have dropped the cluster pod when pulling it out but it didn't drop that far, and i don't know if theres a fuse and if there is i don't know it's location or dropping it damaged it.

Just bought 1999 Nissan Frontier king cab. got it home and brushed the battery off then hooked it back up. Now my speedometer, RMP gage, and odometer all went dead and Fuel says full when i know its got maybe 2gal in it. WTF fuses aren't broken but some look scorched. The lights on the insterment cluster all come on then turn off like they are suposed to, engine temp gage works i think. help

Take out the pc board and examine the copper traces. On my '94 Jetta I found one corroded trace that disabled the the same functions. I had to solder a wire to fix the connection. Good luck.

Temp. gauge don't move past half on 1996 VW Jetta

Sounds normal. If the gauge moved further over, it would indicate an overheating problem, wouldn't it? Check that engine is at normal operating temperature after it warms up. If it is running too cold, your thermostat might be stuck open.

This is a result of either a bad solder job at the factory or just bad solder. You can remove your gage cluster and remove and resolder the joints at the back of the 2 indicators. there are several sites on the internet that have specific instructions.

My fuel gauge tach gauge speedometer heater temp gauge and driver power seat quit working

check the fuses. they are under the back seat just pull up on the lower part of the back seat and it will come out. fuse box is on the drivers side. check to see if water is getting in that could be the cause.

1996 VW Jetta 4.0 cyl Gauges are going out/Dashlights...

I have the same problem, I own a 1996 VW Jetta Trek Edition,
I suspect the dashboard instrument panel is going out,
or it is the wire harness.
Everytime I hit a bump on the road one of the gauges acts up.
So I am going to replace my whole dashboard instrument panel
and see what happens, if that doesn't work, then it must be the harness

I have a 1996 VW Jetta, odomoter and speedometer

Either you have a broken wire some where from the speed sensor to the cluster or you have connector at fault, the one which hookup the dash cluster to the main wire bundel. Check the connector, maybe a pushed back pin !!
