SOURCE: Oil leak from top side of oil filter

Make sure you oil the rubber seal on the oil filter and tighten the oil filter 3/4 of a turn more after the seal is flush with the bracket.

SOURCE: My 1997 Dodge Avenger's engine won't start

Try cam and/or crank sensor. If crank to cam timing isn't detected properly it'll crank all day but won't start. I had similar problem on my 2.5L V6 Avenger....drove home fine, no engine light, next morning it cranked, but wouldn't start. The crank sensor was faulty.

SOURCE: mechanic did not seat oil gasket, lost oil, red light/1 chime,

Whats the dealer say about that, did you contact dealer? You may have void your guarantee, for having someone else chg. your oil, I don't know the deal you have with the dealer. But if the person you had chg. the oil, and he admits to not doing it right (witch i am sure he has other wise he would not try to make it right buy doing what he did), than i would think he is responsible for any damages that have incured. Some new cars are equiped with an automatic shut down when oil pressure falls below a certain p.s.i. The thing is you don't know what damage was done if any, and may not show up until later or maybe not at all, do you want to take that chance. I am taken for granted it did not make any clicking noise before the oil was changed right? You better contact dealer just so you know if your covered if something was to happend.

SOURCE: want start or turnover

First ck for fuel pressure.Turn key on and listen for buzz sound near rear in gas tank. This is your fuel pump and when you cycle key off then on it should make noise for 2-3 seconds. If not have someone bang on fuel tank with the palm of their hand while you crank engine if it starts replace fuel pump. If no noise remove black cap on fuel rail on top of fuel injectors and push shrater valve with small screw driver and fuel should squert out. (this valve is the same as a tire shrater valve that you put air into) If not or very little fuel comes out then your fuel pump is bad or fuel pump wiring. Before replacing fuel pump take a test light and check the power wire and ground wire at fuel pump while cranking engine. If fuel system ok reply back for next step. I have a 2006 dodge Dakota the oil light came on for the first time yesterday I went to pull over and it died I started it and it was tapping turned off the engine oil was low I added oil but now it will...

How many miles are on the engine did you change the oil if oil is present on the filter you may have blown the filter gasket or double gasketed the filter is the tapping a hard tap will it turn over it's hard to say but it sounds serious.

How to change the oil in your car

Attention: Read each step completely before you begin that task. Tools Required:
#1: Oil filter wrench or pliers
#2: Small wrench and sockets (Metric sizes for import cars)
#3: Oil collection device (pan or bucket)
#4: Funnel
#5: Cloth rag or paper towels
#6: Jack and stands or ramps
Supplies Required:
-Correct amount and type of oil, and thrust washer if necessary
-Correct oil filter
Step 1: Determine the correct oil type, oil filter type and size, and amount of motor oil for your car. (Information found in owner's manual)
Step 2: Park your car on level ground and turn off the engine.
Step 3: Locate the engine and make the oil pan accessible. (With the use of jack and stands or ramps) Tool #6 required.

What is the best motor oil and oil filter to use on my 04 beetle turbo?

I would use a Phram oil filter, but the oil you chose is up to you. Personally, I use Chevron RPM oil and have five vehicles and two of them have more than 200,000 miles on them.

My daughter went with Quacker State and we had to replace her engine after 72,000.

The secret is not which oil filter or what oil. Just checking making sure you don't get low and that you replace it every 3,000 miles.

What Is Recommended At 90000 Mile Tune Up For Chrysler Town and Country

At this interval it would be a good idea to check your drive belts, coolant hoses, motor mounts, suspension bushings, check for any motor oil leaks which could occur from any leaking gaskets. It is also a good idea to have change your spark plugs at this point as well. Normal spark plugs last around 50k miles before there electrodes start wearing out and losing their heat index value. They may still be functioning but at the cost of a lower grade spark and less than optimal fuel economy. If you've never replaced your power steering, brake, and transmission fluid and filter now would be a good time. I'd recommend replacing with synthetic grade fluids. I'd also recommend changing your motor oil on any vehicle every 2500-3k miles and adding a quality motor oil like castrol or valvoline, I personally use and recommend stp oil treatment, 1 bottle added at every oil change as well as marvel mystery oil in both my motor oil and added to my gas tank, this is remarkable stuff which keeps the internal components of your engine and fuel injection system clear of residual build ups. Be sure to also check and replace if necessary your air filter as well. good luck and hope it lasts another 90k miles for you

Just bought a used 1996 Honda Accord 4dr 6cyl and it has a major oil problem. when not even on it would leak oil. the car ran out of 5 qts of oil in a 50 mile drive. noticed the oil filter was 1/2 inch...

Yes there is. if it leaks, find out where. You may have engine damage from running the car out of oil. You say it leaks from the oil pump, same as before? was the oil pump replaced? Sounds like a pressure fed leak, so it should be easy to find.

How difficult is it to repair a rear seal leak on a 98 durango

Go buy a can of Berryman's Chemtool B-12 (Auto Zone, Rieley's, WalMart, etc.). Have tools, oil, filter and drain pan on hand for oil change. Warm engine to operating temperature. SLOWLY add can of Berryman's to crankcase of running engine through long funnel. Adding too quickly will kill idling engine, so go slow. After adding, replace oil filler cap and allow to fast idle (2000 rpm or less) for 30 minutes. Turn off engine and drain oil immediately. remove dirty oil filter. Let drain for 30 minutes. Replace plug, spin on new filter, add oil (do not overfill); start with 4 qts. and start briefly and then turn off. let stand for 20 minutes and check with dipstick. Add slowly to bring oil up to full mark; NOT ABOVE. You have just repaired your leaking rear main seal. Berryman's softens and expands rubber seals, stopping 95% of leaks caused by dried out rubber seals. DO NOT use this on cars/trucks that use the old fashioned rope seals. Ask a parts man what kind of seal a 98 Durango has. It washes the wax off the rope and it will leak worse than before. Ray (garage owner)

Camry 1991- really sluggish and jerky

It's just going to take some time and simple cleaning. If there is an Auto Zone around your area, you can buy all the things needed to get the car running 100% again in no time at all for under $40.00. Here is a few things that I do when i get a new car with a few years under it's wheels. Buy a bottle of injector cleaner for the fuel injectors, like STP, a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil to add to the engine oil, and two can's of Throttle body cleaner for the throttle body and follow the instructions on the can. Make sure it's throttle body cleaner. The Carburetor cleaner is to corrosive for the throttle body gasket. Once you have reached 3,000 miles, service the engine and have them replace the oil (5W-30) and filter and add another Marvel Mystery Oil. This will clean out all the carbon and sludge in the engine to free up the oil passage ways, replace the Air filter, and PVC valve every 30,000 miles or once a year. Cleaning out the throttle body and adding the fuel injector cleaner will also help the fuel system and have them replace the fuel filter every 30,000 miles or once a year to ensure there is no fuel restrictions in the fuel system. Once this has been done you will notice the engine runs like new and you may have to use the Marvel Mystery Oil and fuel injector cleaner every 6 months to keep the internal engine free from sludge and carbon. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you keep the car running 100% for a long time.

Oil light goes on...had a dry stick 4 1/2 qts put in. no oil on ground. after oil change light went on at 70 miles.. on 15 secs then off for 5 miles then on again 15 secs--- off 4 miles--off 3 miles- off 2...

if it's not going onto the ground, and it's not being burned, check the positive crankcase ventilation and the exhaust gas recirculation valves for oil seepage...also check your air filter, if its got oil on it replace the pcv valve.
