My 1997 chevy 3500 5.7l has a random miss but when its on a incline / hill it loses power and seems like it enters limp mode. for it to run normal again it has to be shut off and restarted. and it will run fine until the next hill. currently throwing 3 codes p1406 p0151 p0131 the egr valve is new and did not fix the code. anyone have any leads on what could cause this limp mode or what seems to be a limp mode to me?
P1406 indicates the egr flow sensor--not the valve. This does not seem related to p0131 or p0151. I would look for intake leaks and maybe exhaust leaks as well.
Do you have a check engine light on? Have you done an engine control module fault code test (OBD2 control system), is fuel pressure OK under a load? Has the fuel injector spider manifold (inside the throttle bore) assembly been replaced, that is a known problem.

P0740 is TCC circuit malfunction P0753 is shift solenoid A circuit electrical P0758 is shift solenoid B P1406 is EGR pintle position and P01860 is TCC circuit.
SOURCE: Service engine code indicates EGR valve.
You could have a restriction in the egr ports. remove the valve. Plug the holes, start engine. 1 hole will be blowing out exhaust, the other will have large vacuum.

the egr value tubing also gets corroded with carbon. take tube off and use a wire brush to clean tubing. i talked with a mechanic and he said he has never seen an egr valve fail. most if not all egr problems are due to carbon build up in the egr tube. clean egr tube interior.

these are all O2 sensor circut problems

well... the misfire codes are logged in when its running bad, but first I would want to verify fuel pressure when its running bad.
