SOURCE: ecm fuse keeps blowing

just fixed this problem, change your fuel pump module, fuel sending unit shorts out on fuel level swing arm blue wire... unfortinately you must replace it as unit because of the design, fuel pump and tank guage fuel level sending unit are a one peice item, fuel tank has to come out to change unit, about a $ 700.00 repair too... fuel pump module runs about 350 to 700 $ depending on aftermarket or factory, try to find one with a lifetime warranty even if it is $ 50.00 more worth it..labor is about $ 250 to $ 400 depending on shop labor rate... definate problem though I ahve no doubt, common problem on GM... please rate my help, thanks...

SOURCE: my four wheel drive fuse keeps blowing. 2002 GMC

On the full size, the front actuator is electric, not vacuum.

When in 4wd mode, a switch on top of the transfer case conducts 12 volts out to the actuator. Wire #50 (brown) is the 12v feed, and it conducts to the light blue wire (#900) to the actuator.
When shifted out of 4wd, the switch opens up and no voltage goes to the actuator.

Check voltage at the connector for the front actuator (at the front differential - it looks like a large bullet that threads into the front diff.) If it has 12 volts, the actuator is the problem. If it does not have 12 volts, check the transfer case switch and the power feed to the transfer case.

I'll assume it is the actuator, if the plug to the actuator is getting 12 volts when in 4wd.
The way this actuator works, is it is a sealed chamber that gets heated by voltage. When it heats, the pin in the end swells and pushes a shift fork in the front differential. The shift fork engages a spline on the passenger side of the differential, and boom! you have 4WD.

GM offered an upgrade to this actuator that is a motor instead of a heated device. However, it requires a small harness addition, a spacer, and a new actuator. It is about a $150 to $200 option.

If I were you, I would buy a new heated actuator. They are available at most auto parts stores, and are about $90. They are also on eBay for about $55 plus shipping. These are very easy to change - just thread out the old one, and thread in a new one.

Good luck. The actuator is usually the problem 90% of time but recheck all of the wire harness just to maker sure there is no short before replacing any parts.

SOURCE: Needing to know why my Yukon's gauges stopped working.

You need to replace cluster, 99-02 Silverado GMC all will work even if it has a trans temp truck is pre wired for it. I put a 02 Denali cluster in my 01 silverado no problems. GM can reprogram hours and odometer if you want.

SOURCE: 99 gmc yukon daytime running lights dont work

Make sure Parking brakes are fully released and then check the diode under the dash, drivers side above right foot, remove diode and shunt tyhe connection if lights lite diode is bad. These diode reduce the power by 25% and are prone to fail

Sounds like possibly a faulty ignition switch, They will cause symptoms very similar to that. Another thing 2001-2003s were known for are bad instrument panel clusters (dash assembly) usually the speedo gets pegged at a certain speed and stays there.

My 2001 GMC Yukon seems to be stuck in 4 wheel drive. The drive train is binding up when turning on dry pavement. The push button light is on 2hi and the service 4wd light is on. Is there a way to get it...

It may be the front axel actuator moter(on front axel right side) is not disengaging the axel. There is a 4wd
fuse 15amp in the fuse block under the dash, make sure it's not blown. If the fuse is ok, check the connections at the actuator and the transfer case switch. These are the more common causes for the
problem you have. Give these tests a try and let me
know if you want to go to the next level.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have an '02 gmc yukon, stuck in 4 low.

Check for a blown fuse. use your manual to find fuse location. you can remove the shift motor and engage it manually, you need to remove front driveshaft.

How do you remove factory stereo amplifier on 2001 Yukon XL

There is an outer trim that circumferences the Dash and radio panels. This trim is a snap in. I pulled mine out by hand. After pulling the trim loose I had to lower the steering column all the way and put the car in drive to easily remove the loosened trim.

Went to put the 2001 yukon xl 2500 into 4x4 and service 4wd came on and all lights went off on switch. I checked fuses and power to switch all was ok. could switch be shot

I had an 2001 or 2003 envoy that did that and the only solution was to disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes so the computer would reset.
