Took my car to a mechanic this morning and he noticed that I had a lot of wobble in my right front tire. He said that the inner tie rod needed to be replaced and that the tires will need to be replaced as well because of the way they have warn. I just spent $700 1.5 years ago to have the front tied rods replaced and some other work. Do they wear out that fast? This guy says it will cost me $500 to fix it.....
They do not wear out that fast, 80,000 miles is a typical replacement point in your Taurus., get a 2nd opinion, wobble can also be caused by bad tires, i.e. a separated tire cord inside the tire. rotated the tires and see if it helps the problem, also an alignment is a good idea.

No the front tie rods shouldnt wear out that quickly, i still have the originals on my 86 truck! i think that the mechanic must of installed them incorecttyl or "rigged" them i.e. fix it the cheap way

thats pretty sad.
this is reason why i will never buy a ford personally.
or any american car.
atleast the japs have it under control.
grandfathers taurus 03 gets a shake at about 60mph and now we have inner tire wear. and we have 92k miles.
this just started and dont invest in cheapy tires. you want to reduce alot of this take and invest in lower profile tires and wider tires.
the tires to me are too narrow.
especially for the weight and design of the car.
im about to drop some 18's on this taurus and some 225 50 18's do to the fact i know how long my low profiles last i have 35k on mine on my civic and there near new condition. and im not a smooth driver.but i didnt invest in cheapy tires there 300 a pop.
get a second opinon or else get the chiltons or simular and learn more about the situation.
