It is the wire close to the VTEC valve solenoid plug be cut off. Sounds wired, but it happened to my 2001 accord EX V6 sedan. After I solder it back, the TCS light turned off. But I had to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and put it back to reset the Check Engine light.

I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX. I had the check engine light come on as well and I had the code read by PepBoys. The code was:P1259 or VTEC SYSTEM Malfunction.
I Don't know jack about were to start to fix this problem, so I bit the bullet and took the car to my Honda Dealer. The problem was checked out and was told this.
( REPLACE VTEC VALVE ASSEMBLY)
I had them do the work because I dont know how to do this. So after $204.00 in Labor and $162.29 in parts, for a grand total $366.29, The car was fixed!!!!!!! Run's great and no check engine light on anymore. So to help you out as best I can, here is the numbers that are on my work sheet. I dont know witch numbers represent the part number but this is how it looks on my paper.

1 15810-PAA-A02 8108797-90870 VALVE ASSY, SPOOL $150.75

1 15825-P0A-015 8161598-15999 FILTER, SPOOL VALVE $11.54

There you go! I hope this gives everyone a place to start. maybe get your self a Haynes Repair Manual (#42014 is for the 1998-2002 Honda Accord, all models) and try to do the work your self. Good luck to all of you form Donald M. in SoCal.

SOURCE: VTEC System Malfunction code P1259

P1259 Immobilizer to PCM Signal Error,, ok, first does the car hic up at around 4000 rpm'? what you have here is possibly 2 things with a honda, and that code just happens to pop up for both,, One, change the oil, and 2, you may need to change the Vtec pressure sensor/screen (solenoid),, its located between the Vtec solenoid and the head,, My guess is that your oil is pretty bad, or you just had an oil change, either way ,, clean that sensor,, it may or may not work, if not, you'll have to replace it

Check engine light came on throwing two codes P1167 and p1259 I need help!

Oxygen sensor is not communicating with the ECM and the Vtec code is for the internal valve timing and cylinder shut down after reaching highway speeds. Dealer ship repair or a shop you know has the tools to fix the internal engine parts as well as the electronics that control the engine.

How to replace cam shaft sensor

Assuming you have the 2.3 L 4 cylinder engine, the CYP sensor [Honda does not call it a camshaft sensor] is located in the distributor. It also has 2 crankshaft sensors, located down at the front of the crankshaft. You need to remove the timing belt covers to access those.
FYI, P1259 is a VTEC system [variable valve timing] malfunction code. First step would be to change the engine oil and filter. Dirty oil can cause the VTEC solenoid to stick.

Code p1259

low oil level can cause this as well as a bad oil pressure switch for VTEC control, possible VTEC solenoid.
Another reason for this code is the immobilizer. the anti theft device that looks at your key for the diode to match the car. This is on cars with out the VTEC.
On the VTEC system
DEFINITION:
VTEC System Malfunction

PROBABLE CAUSES:
-Low oil/pressure
-Blocked oil pressure
-Failed VCT oil control valve

My check engine light came on. I went to autozone and received a dtc p1259 code. What does that mean

p1259 code is manufacturer control fuel air metering,--its a VTEC malfunction, Check the oil level in your car. Everytime I've seen this code it is because the oil level is low. VTEC works off of oil pressure and when the oil level is too low there is not enough oil pressure to push the VTEC in. My guess is you're about two quarts of oil low so it should cost you about $4.00 to fix the problem. If the oil level is correct then you'll need to take it to the dealer for diagnosis.

P1259 is a code for vtec malfunction usually cause by a bad vtec solenoid, vtec pressure sensor, low oil level, bad connection. Was oil change done? May want to check the oil level. P1166 is a code for a primary o2 sensor 1.
