Runs Rough and Rich then Dies After Engine Reaches 150 Degree F

I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder that Runs Rough and Rich then Dies After Engine Reaches 150 Degree F. I''ve replaced the ECU, Cooler Temp Sensor, Air Flow Meter, O2 Sensors.
Did notice if you diconnect the Alternator Fuse, Vehicle Runs Normal and it does not die.
After replacing the Alternator, the problem still exists. Inspected all the wiring harness, all apeared to be fine. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks....

SOURCE: Changing the front speaker 2001 Eclipse Spyder

There are 7 screws all together to remove the door pannel. First, you have to take off the hanlde for the door. the 2 plastic covers on the handle pop off revealing 2 screws on the top and bottom, remove those. then behind the the door handle on the inside, pull it as if you were to open it and there is a screw that you have to remove. Then there are 2 screws on either side of the door pannel, both are farily close to the top, remove those, and then its just a matter of popping the pannel off. start from the bottom, pop it off then slide it up. becarefull, after the door panel is free, there is a connection for the power doors and windows unhook that then the pannel will be free. after that the speaker will be right there and its common sense on removing that. good luck.

SOURCE: Idling hunts by around 300RPM when car is hot. (working temp.)

try cleaning the throttle body first then if that dont work you will need to replce the iac motor wich is located on the bottom of the throttle body your car is hunting for the correct idle position and either the sensor inside the iac motor is dirty or it is bad

I need diagram for firing order for 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder 2.4L. Changing O2 sensors and need for guidance on placement.

The 4G64 (2.4L) engine is an in-line four cylinder engine. The cylinder numbers are assigned as 1-2-3-4 from the front of the engine (timing belt side). This engine is fired in the order of the 1, 3, 4 and 2 cylinders.

Strictly speaking you have two fuel / air sensors in the manifold for the catalytic converter and two O2 sensors after the cat.

What are the probable causes of DTC P0450?

Fuel tank pressure sensor may be a different part from what you replaced, and may be related or not. Check coolant temp sensor as these fail often and will make ECU think engine has not warmed up thus sends rich mix.

Starts ok when cold, when reaches normal running temp misses and runs rough.

Check ECT engine coolant temp sensor for sticking too cold letting engine run too rich causing flooding.

After I start the engine it runs fine until it warms up to operating temperature and then runs rough and produces black smoke until t dies. It will not re-start normally until it has cooled.

Bad coolant temp sensor making ECU think engine is still cold, thus running rich, as if choke is on. There are two temp sensors, one for dash gauge (one wire) and one for the ECU (two wires). You can remove it and test with voltmeter by placing unit in hot or cold water to compare readings.

Where is a Mitsubishi eclipse spyder 2003 wiper relay ?

The two relays for the front [main] wipers are part of the front ECU [engine computer] and are not serviceable separately. The front wipers are powered by a 10 amp [#22 in the relay box] battery hot fuse and a 20 amp [#18 in the junction box] & two 7.5 amp [#20 & #23 in the junction box] ignition hot fuses. The front ECU is located under the hood. It sits on top of the driver's inner fender well.

How to replace a ecm

241 F = 116.5 C so the engine is at or past boiling point
It is possible that the engine coolant temp sensor is what is shutting down the engine through the ECM
the engine starts and runs which doesn't make the ECM , the fault but it can be tested by the substitution of a known good ECM unit
There is a method of reading fault codes for the vehicle so it would be advisable to get them read professionally first

get your heater core checked out. the heater core is right by the blower motor and if its busted it will blow the smell into your car.
