Ems5I have a 06 envoy and left the driver side window down and it got soaked from rain. Now I can not get the window. I was told i probably need a new window module.Can u tell me where it is in my car and does this sound like a good place to start troubleshooting the problem. Thank you

Dave, good news for you. There is a recall for the master switch on the drivers door. The recall involves water being able to get into the switch. I wouldn't say anything, just call and ask about the the recall. This "module" is the switch itself. Pop the plastic trim upwards, the switch comes right up.

Check fuse& circuit breaker.

I suggest replacing the switch on the passenger side. Chances are the switch is faulty by a back connection inside - switch is wore out - if it works every now and then.

SOURCE: Driver side door, electric windows and lock will not work.

If windows still work from other door switches, then fuse is good, if not check fuse, if they do replace master window switch, shorted out with the water.

Floor on drivers side just in front of my seat gets soaked after a rain
Hi Ruth
Probably running down from bad seal in windscreen. Get someone to hold hose above bottom edge of windscreen while you check inside for leaking water running down firewall into carpet. Probably on drivers side just above where carpet first gets wet. Once you find hole in caulking compound where water gets in... plug it with silicone silastic.

I had similar on 02 Highlander. Source was leak from around window trim (rust) and roof racks connector entering and going down the windshield post behind the trim. Gently remove the interior plastic trim piece to the left of the windshield to see any water coming down there. Find source, disassemble whatever is required and use good sealant like supra expert.

I had similar on 02 Highlander. Source was leak from around window trim (rust) and roof racks connector entering and going down the windshield post behind the trim. Find source, disassemble whatever is required and use something like Supra Expert to seal (not just cheap silicone).

Most popular problem here is the whole switch assembly may be burnt due to water intrusion. There IS a fairly new re-call on these switches. When door is open while raining, water can get into the switches and short out. I've had this happen to me personally, switch melted and can cause a fire. I took the switchout, just pops out, unplug the electrical connector. I got another one from the junkyard, about $75. I got my recall notice after I performed the repair. Call the dealer and ask about the recall. They take the switchout, replace it, and put a coating onto new switch, to protect from water intrusion.

Power windows in 1997 buick century, driver side front doesn't always go down, driver side back I think needs a new motor doesn't go down at all and the back passenger side I believe is off track....
probably needs new switches (in driver's door panel). if window is ever left down while raining, switches will quickly corrode.
