Changed alternator and battery. Engine will start, but apparently only runs on the battery. Tried alternator test by removing + & - terminals while engine is running, but engine cuts off when I remove one of the terminals. I just replaced the alternator. Is there any different test that I can do to test the alternator itself (different from being in connection with battery-method mentioned above) or is there any other things that I am not considering? Please help my wife is about to kill me if I can't figure this out.
Back in the old day,s you could take the battery cable off with the vehicle running - 60's . begining in the 70's they started using transistors in the vehicle electronics . A voltage spike could short out a PCM - engine computer etc.... If you want to test a alternator take it to a qualified repair shop or take it off the vehicle an have a parts store bench test it .

Did you test for B+ voltage at the connections on the alternator ? Without B+ at the right connections it won't charge .

By unscrewing the bolts off and push alternator down to take the belt off so you can pull out the alternator.
good luck

You have to take out the right front side wheel and you have the alternetor in front. There is a perpendicular bolt the release belt tension two more other bots to take out.

They more than likely shorted out your 100a link fuse by grounding out your alt cable while replacing it. Sounds like they didn't disconnect the battery before hand. Your car has an idle program which it re-learns every time you lose power, or in your case, turn off the switch. You need to replace this fuse or your car will not charge.
