98 Suburban 5.7L, automatic trans is stuck in park - no previous shifting problems, I know that the brake switch also operates the brake/transmission solenoid (BTS). Stepping on the brake pedal prior to starting the vehicle allows shifting from park to another gear. When I switch the key to the "on" position, I don't hear the BTS click. I can start the vehicle and the brake lights work fine. I just can't shift out of Park. I am unemployed and I am trying to troubleshoot this problem and fix it myself. Please help!

SOURCE: 1995 suburban

The push rod from the brake pedal to the master is attached to a pin on the brake pedal, the rod is held on the pin with a spring clip.

Hello i have a 1995 suburban and my stop light dont work. taillights license light backup light turn signals work. I bought a stop light switch dont know how to replace it any idea

Hi!!
Look on the upper part of the brake pedal, it is the only device with an electrical connector, mark position or take a picture with you cell camera, disconnect connector and remove switch unscrewing it from pedal bracket. Replacement should cost about $10.

When i turn on my lights to car brake lights stay on 91 toyota corrola

Pull up on brake pedal. If lights go out then brakelight switch was stuck. Made out of plastic will need to be replaced. If not climb under dash follow brake pedal up towards top where it goes toward dash. There will be a plunger like switch that comes in contact with brake pedal. Disconnect the wire connector. Lights go out switch is bad.

Replacing power brake booster

You don't need to remove the pedal to get the booster off,it just slides inside,so when the booster is unhooked it will just pull out.

Please rate this a fixya.

Brake light on every time.

Hi,

Check the foot pedal switch first to see if is working correctly and not stuck, and that the pedal actually disconnects when returned.

If this is ok, you will have to trace the live feed back to the source, starting at the bulb, and working back.

Are you certain it is the brake light, and not a rear side light? These can be left on when the ignition is off, wheras brake lights usually can't
