Major oil leak near oil filter

I thought it was just a loose oil filter but the leak is pouring from the filter mount. The filter isn't loose. The gasket on the filter looks good.

I also have the same problem. Oil filter is on securely yet the oil is leaking from behind the housing. I can't quite see where it's leaking but I seems like it's coming from the top and then leaking down. It's about 2 inches from the filter.

I have the same problem, its the gasket from the block to the oil filter housing. How hard was it to do this job?????

Make sure the gasket from the previous filter isn't still on. I've seen them stick to the surface occasionally. Also make sure you didn't cross thread the filter. And of course, make sure you have the correct filter.

Oil leak near oil filter

check that the oil filter is at the correct tension and not loose or over tight. Check that there is only one gasket under the oil filter as 2 gaskets will allow one to be squeezed out under pressure.

Oil leak near oil-temp sensor and oil filter

A common problem with leaking oil filters is that they were either cross threaded or the old rubber gasket stuck to the filter mount and now there are 2 filter gaskets there which could leak. As far as the oil sensor you amy be able to tighten it down after removing the wiring harness to make it stop leaking.

Oikl leak next to the oil filter its coming out of the upper seal. How can I stop the leak?

Do you know if the leak is coming from the seal, between the filter and the mounting plate? If so, check for a loose oil filter, the old seal stayed on the mounting plate and wasn't removed before the new filter was installed, or the mounting plate or seal is defective. So check and see and let me know how you made out. Good-luck.

Oil filter housing leaking

Before you suspect the housing, check the oil pressure switch that is mounted in the same area. These switches are known to fail, and cause oil to leak on the oil filter area. Just a thought.

2004 Murano has an oil leak near the oil filter mounting backet.

The oil filter mounts on an oil cooler housing that has an o-ring on the block side of it. The housing is held in place by the double ended connector bolt that the oil filter screws onto one side and the other goes into the block. This should be tighten to 37 ft/lbs. prior to installation of the oil filter. It may be loose or the o-ring might need replacement.

Oil leaking on front right side of the car near oil pan and oil filter

You need to clean the engine and then run the vehicle while watching the area. The most common failure is the oil sending unit located near the oil filter. I have also seen a leak develop between the oil pump housing, which is mounted directly behind the hamonic balencer and the engine block.
