Slipping automatic shifter linkage

2005 Toyota Solara Automatic Transmission. Spilled water in consol. Dryed and re-lubricated shifter and linkage with lithium grease. Linkage eyelet continues to slip off the shifter bracket when cold (below 30 degrees) Is there an e clip or another type of clip that is installed over the bracket behind the linkage eyelet when the linkage eyelet is intalled on the bracket rod?

Hello, the shifter can bind up due to the linkage inside the console, it's a common problem if there was anything spilled into the shift console, anything containing sugar will cause problems like this. remove the shift plate that surrounds the shifter you should b able to just pop it off, spray the inside with a solution of detergent and warm water, moving the shifter back and forth, this should keep the shift interlock from sticking.

The high viscosity ensures transfer of lubricant throughout the gear train. Some modern automatic trans-axles (integrated transmission and differential) do not use a heavy oil at all, but lubricate with the lower viscosity hydraulic fluid, which is available within the automatic transmission.

Hi, The automatic shift lever of my 2003 Toyota 4Runner is been hard to shift up and own. I applied some force and now the automatic shift lever is moving without tension. Please help with solution

The shifter linkage has come loose -- most likely where it's connected inside the console, but the entire length of the linkage needs to be checked.

Automatic gear shift in 94 toyota tercel stuck

what is stuck?

the linkage or the cable from the shifter to the trans.?

block the tires so the car can not roll away...
open the hood and remove the cable from the shifter on the transmission.
see if you can manualy move the shifter on the trans.
if that moves... you may need to replace the cable (shift linkage)
