SOURCE: 2007 Chevy Silverado Center brake light works but back ones dont
There is a probable bad wiring connection in problem one and three.
#2 Possible water leak causing bulb break. Try wd40 in socket. you need
a wiring diagam and cheap voltmeter if you want do it yourself.

sounds like a broken wire in the harness. look around the bumper area, sometimes along the frame. may have to peel back some tape covering. also if you have a trailer harness look closely at those.
SOURCE: 2007 Chevy Silverado when my check engine light
It's a safety feature. For example, if there is no oil pressure when you start the engine, you could not see that unless you were in the car and could spin a bearing or seize the engine by starting it remotely and letting it run unattended. So when the check engine light is on, there is something not working properly with the engine/engine management system and it wants you in the car where you can see the guages and turn the engine off immediately if there's a serious problem.

I had the same problem! I used a piece of wood to keep the break pedal depressed and then started to remove one of the break lamps and to my surprise it came on! Same thing on the other side. So I did not seat (bottom out) the lamps in their sockets and both break light are now working properly. I had a similar issue last spring but that time only one light was out. I put in a new bulb and it still did not work so I messed around with it a little more and it started working. Never did figure it out until now. Hope this helps!
