I assume u have an automatic trans., there are 2 types for that year, model 41TE, which to drain and fill for a trans fluid change is 4 qts, not including what's in the torque converter, and model 31th (14 bolt fluid pan) which holds 8.9 qts including the torque converter. Interesting how my source gave one w/ torque con. one w/out.

2006 dodge grand caravan transmission fluid low but cannot find a leak

check your rear main seal. Also try changing your trans fluid, trans filter, and your transmission pan seal. I recommend you put lucas transmission oil in it and a quart of the Lucas Stop Slip and leak sealer

Ford f250 2005 transmission how do you check the fluid and how many quarts do I use?

22's answer as to location is correct. Check the fluid after the vehicle has warmed up and with the engine running. Check your manual for fluid type if any is required (should be type "F"). Do not overfill as it will not help. If fluid is a qt low you ahould check transmission lines going from radiator to the tranny as there is a leak somewhere. Also look around the transmission pan for leaks. Slipping of the transmission is the most obvious indicator of low fluid, stepping on the gas but the transmission doesn't push you faster. Hope this helps. GT

My 2002 Trailblazer is using a LOT of transmission fluid! I am having to put half a quart in a WEEK! Could someone PLEASE help me?? What should I do? I just bought this thing!

Transmissions dont "use" fluid. If you are replacing half a quart a week you have a leak somewhere.. Try tightening the transmission pan bolts. If this doesnt stop the leak you may have a bad pan gasket. There are also two small tubes running from the ****** to the radiator for cooling. One or both may be leaking. Put a liece of cardboatd or wood under your truck to catch drips. This will help you to locate where it is leaking from.

How much transmission fluid do I put in my 2003 alero. I am changing the filter and gasket.

IT WILL TAKE 7 QUARTS FOR FLUID CHANGE.YOU NEED TO USE FACTORY GASKET.BECAUSE THE GASKET THAT COME WITH FILTER WILL LEAK.I HAD THAT PROBLEM.YOU CAN REUSE THE OLD GASKET.ITS THICK RUBBER GASKET WITH HOLDING HOLDING TABS THAT HOLD IT IN PLACE.IF GASKET LOOKS DAMAGED OR BAD ITS BEST TO BUY IT AT DEALERS SHIP.IT COST ABOUT $40.00 DOLLARS.THE GASKET THAT COME IN FILTER KIT IT TOO THIN.IT PLAIN.IT DONT HAVE SEALING BEADS IN IT.WHEN YOU PUT IT ON ADD FLUID TRANSMISSION WILL LEAK THROUGH THE GASKET.LOOK AT THE OLD GASKET LOOK AT THE DOUBLE SEAL BEAD IT HAS IT KEEP IT FROM LEAKING.

The car will get in gear and drive for about 100 yards

I would start by checking the fluid level. THis is most likely a 700 r4 Overdrive transmission, The dipstick is located at the back of the engine bay on the passenger side. The vehicle needs to be running in order to check trans fluid. Pull the stick, wipe it and put it back in the tube, then quickly pull it again, if you don't see any fluid on the stick you are at least 2 quarts low. If the transmission fluid id dark black and smells bad, then your clutches inside are probably toast. That's where I'd start.
