2000 hyundai sonata v6 P1371 code

Car spun the serpentine belt because of a faulty tensioner, after replacing belt and tensioner tried to start car and would not fire. Got a 300 code for a misefire and a P1371 code (#1 cylinder firing early). Further investigation shows the crank shaft pulley slid back (separated) about 1/4". Timing belt is intact but cam shaft pulleys don't line up at 11 and 1 when crank is at TDC, is it possible that the timing belt jumped?

SOURCE: 2002 hyundai accent DL sedan. my tension pulley

hi from uk to retime cambelt is as follows = the crank cog has a mark which lines up with corresponding mark on front of engine block mark is approx 12-30 o/clock this is TDC No 1 the the cam cog has a small drilled hole in one of the webs just below the cog teeth ? this hole has to be at 12-o/clock position and then using a small mirror if you look through this hole you will see a vertical notch on the front of block this is theTDC mark for cam you then fit belt anticlockwise from c/shaft to cam then round tensioner then release tensionor to tension belt and then lock it up torque both bolts 20 - 27Nm rotate engine manually 4 complete turns clockwise then recheck marks ok /re align ? then re assemble crank pully bolt torque is 140 -150 Nm may i just inform you? that your engine is what is known as interferance that is to say in event of c/belt failure there is more than likely valves to piston contact however this can also occure too if miss timed belt fitted and engine has tried to start ? a compression test on cylinders will confirm if this has happened or not ? hope this helps

We need to change a serpentine belt on a Hyundai Sonata 2008.

The idler pulley needs to be released Lisa. You put the belt on and then let the idler take up its job or tensioning the belt. Watch the videos.

How do I install a serpentine belt on a 2006 hyundai sonata 3.3 V6

Hi Melvin, here's a link on your serpentine belt,it says to turn tensioner, but doesn't say what type of tool, sometimes its a rachet end or a wrench, best to do with a helper, one to turn tensioner and hold, while the other removes belt, may have to get under vehicle to get a grip on tensioner.

Trying to replace serpintine belt but air conditioner pulley seems to sit lower than it does on diagram

I do not know what Diagram you are referring to. Also I am not sure if you have the Sonata with the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4, or the Sonata GLS with the 2.5 SOHC V6.
In any case:
Click on the following Free-Direct Link. It has the Serpentine Belt Diagrams. Compare these with your Vehicle and/or Diagrams you have.

Alternator

Answer Use a large wrench to take tension off of your serpentine belt and remove the belt from the alternator, (just the alternator). Disconnect the wires. Remove the bolts then the alternator. Put new alternator in place using old bolts. Replace wires (may only be one wire, depending on the alternator). Get your large wrench back out, put the belt back on the alternator, and your good to go. this should do it.
