1994 Toyota Corolla-transmission temporarily slipped!
I just bought a 1994 Toyota Corolla yesterday. When I took it out for a test drive, it worked better than I could have hoped. I did plenty of highway and freeway driving (to the point where the car was warmed up) and the transmission sounded just great as did everything else.
I took it home and drove it later on that night and, as I was driving at 40-45 mph, the speedometer dropped quickly down to 0, the "o/d off" light came on, and the engine sounded like it was being very overworked. I slowed down (to ~20 mph), turned on to a side street, turned the car off for a second, turned it back on, and it was doing the same thing for about a minute longer, then all of a sudden, it seemed okay again.
The guy who sold me the car assured that his business checks fluids and everything, so I didn't think to check the transmission fluid then, but I'm going to right now. Also, the car came from Wisconsin and I live in Minnesota, so he assured me that his employee who brought the car to the dealership was able to make sure it got a good test drive and said it didn't give him any problems then.

My first thought check Transmission fluid . It should be checked with engine running in park at operating temp with emergency brake on.
why your car's transmission is slipping https://axleaddict.com/auto-repair/slipping-transmission
slipping transmission could be worn out transmission.but first make transmission fluid and filter been changed.if already been done check transmission fluid level could be low. if all is good have transmission shop do pressure test check out transmission.
The transmission filler is located towards the driver side front of the transmission. Look for a tube with a red " T " on top of the tube. Check the fluid with the engine running, in park, at normal operating temperature. If you need fluid, add the type of fluid printed on the dipstick. Add the fluid thru the dipstick tube. Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.
Did you buy this from a dealer? if so, you should have taken it back ASAP I dont know why you didnt have the Toyota Dealer fix the car, now your in the middle of a mess, getting 2 shops involved, and the car still has a problem. When you bought the car, whoever you bought it from, knew there was a problem, cleared the code and it took a while for the check engine light to come back on. So now you will just have to pay someont to fix the car. The trans shop told you it needed a converter and solenoid, the problem is still there, so make it their problem. I think you need someone who knows toyota . theres no recall that I know of. Recalls are free, anyhow. . ecm is warranteed 8 years or 80k miles. Have the dealer check it out. Have them Check Bulletin TC008-04 and T-SB-0378-08
reading what your saying, the problem started when you topped up with fluid; from experience what you have done is over filled the system which can build up high pressure and burst the oil seals and contamanate the drive plate.if your happy with what youve removed it might come back ok.but i suspect burst oil seal failure causing contamanation. thanks adrian
