Check your fuel filter and air filter. That is usually where your hesitation starts.

Try replacing your fuel pump relay, Its common on chevys. Those fuel pumps are too expensive to keep replacing

I would start by checking spark modulator under the distributor not the cap but the distributor. two sets of wires from under distributor thats it remove dis cap 2small screws on drivers side removes it . You can take to checker or autozone they will check it for you hope this is it later good luck
SOURCE: How to install a new fuel pump on a 1985 Chevy,305 V8,
Remove the plunger rod by removing the plate that is bolted to the block. Clean all parts if needed.
Apply some axle grease to the plunger rod and reinstall into the block, replace plate, then carefully install fuel pump, making sure the plunger is under the push rod.
Just did this same thing on my '66 283.

Sounds like a bad wire connection. Check the connectors for cleanliness and that they are tight and free of corrosion.
